The Rubens part seems as though it could be credible, but the Marco part of the story they are just speculating. I guess we will just wait and see.

Woud be a nice move for Rubhino, and I woudn't be surprised at Marco in an F1 Honda either. Many people would be keen to see a marketable Transatlantic Formula 1 pilot, and for that, you couldn't pick a better surname.

would be interesting, wouldn't mind seeing Marco in F1 and i think Rubens would be good in IndyCar.

Well, as lons as F1 Honda don't improve significantly, Marco shouldn't waste his time.
He must not follow his daddy's F1 misadventures... |

http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...24095535.shtml One to watch though. I can see Marco in F1 someday. |

I'm not convinced that Marco is good enough for F1, but he probably needs to be racing on road/street courses regularly to prove that he is. Rubens might be good at oval racing, but it's hard to tell until he's tried it.

The real marketing success out of this would be if Marco was going to race in F1 at a US Grand Prix. God Almighty knows when that will happen.

While I think Marco has the goods to eventually get to F1, the closest he should get to F1 right now is GP2. He needs at least one season there with a good team to find out: 1) If he really does have "it." and 2) For him to get acclimated to the tracks/pressure of the circus.
Personally, I would rather see Anthony Davidson get the seat IF Rubens goes elsewhere... |

Marco has shown himself to be pretty fast in protos so far, wasn't he running the faster laps in the AGR car? Wish he had stayed there, rather than back to Indy cars for his main ride. Anybody know if he will be running at PLM?

Probably, but even at AGR, they don't know yet, i think.
But, if he starts F1 in 09, he won't be at PLM. |

A) Bild is possibly the most unreliable source of news this side of Mugabe's press office (or the News of the World)
B) More likely Rubens will make way for Sato as Super Aguri will not be able to keep going C) Indy straight to F1 is not going to happen anymore unless you have blitzed everyone in the states (a la Zanardi/Montoya/Bourdais/Da Matta etc...) |

Even Bourdais had to win four straight years.
For Montoya, he had his place reserved at Williams before he went to the CC. |

Montoya was a Williams test driver before he was in CART, Bourdais was too. Zanardi was in F1 before he was in CART. Glock also, (Euro F3 > F1 > CART > GP2 > F1 - oddly). Da Matta & Michael Andretti are probably the only recent examples (one 15 years ago!) of Champcar drivers switching to F1 'cold' - and pretty good examples of it not working too. No one's switched from IRL to F1 thus far. |

For me Barichello is exactly the type of driver I don't want to see in IRL, IRL should have its own stars and not fading F1-ones.
It's an other thing with someone like say Anthony Davidson or Adrian Suti(just as examples) who are still young and have something left to give. |

At this stage in his career Andretti is simply not good enough for F1, he would quickly sink like his father did.

Sounds great, Rubens Barichello, an average F1 driver who happened to race for a great team once in his career, hardly a good choice for a prime spot in the IRL at this stage. I doubt it will happen.

Rubens wife says she doesn't want him racing on ovals. It's not going to happen.

If Marco, brought serious money (sponsorship) with him to F1, than it could very well happen. LIke breaking into any racing series, its not all about skill in F1.

One thing for sure, Michael and Mario would never use their own money for that venture. Well, actually, they never use their own money for any venture...
