Croft Thank-you!

Just want to say a BIG thank-you to the marshal who attended our small engine fires (twice) in the pit lane! My partner , Ian McDonald was co-driving a Ginetta G12 with its' owner Patrick Ward-Booth in the Guards Trophy. First time out for the car with of course lots of teething problems. The car started to backfire and Ian brought it straight into the pits. Engine cover off to reveal one set of carbs on fire. Ian immediately managed to put the fire out with his racing gloves. However a brilliant marshal (unfortunately we didn't get his name) was immediately there with a fire extinguisher but seeing that Ian had things under control he didn't set it off and therefore saved the engine. We sent the car out with Patrick and he did one lap with the same problem. Coming into the pits it was the same scenario. After which we retired the car.
If it hadn't been for the quick thinking and awareness of that marshal we would have had a very expensive engine rebuild had the extinguisher fluid been sucked in. On the safety side though, he was over the engine with the nozzle in case he was needed. Superb! Thank-you so much, you are all the most fantastic people without whom we wouldn't be able to indulge our passion!

Thank you very much Celia, I am start chief and will pass your great message on thank you... Something like this is what and why we enjoy doing this.. I will pass on your kind thoughts. We have many a fire in the pits and as we enjoy seeing the cars and knowing how much it costs for you to race we only use the bottles if it looks too bad for any other option... Thank you again

To slightly hijack the thread.

Thanks to all at Croft for weekend, especially Dave and Steve, and Rod, James, Anthony & Geoff on post 14 - you all helped me put a ghost to bed.
