2002 Program (for Le Mans indeed !)
I got the 2002 porgram at the ACO yesterday... it seems there's NO-THING between warm up and the race !!!
Not even a little race of cars... Do you believe that ? I'll try to ask on another french forum, but I'm pessimistic... I got the Classic for the 21/22 September week-end too... Lots of things, but you'll need to ware tie & jacket (street legal ?) to go inside the paddock (!?!)... great connections with luxe industrie and so on... Several (4 or 5) groups/age of the cars, running each four or five (can't remember) races during 24 hours... will be fun ! Each race : 35' on the great track... each team must have a car in each categorie... Prices : not so expensive, from 20 to 30 €(depending if you're ACO member or not). Grandstands seems to be free, ACO grandstands reserved for ACO members... come on, Ayse, you have to come !!! Even completely broke ! Try hitch hiking ! |

Fab, thanks for the information, you are right Ayse has to come to the Classic! He can come with me, and we can enjoy a few beers and crepes between the races with you. The "dress code" is similar to the requirements at the Goodwood revival meeting, where you can't get into the paddock in jeans or trainers or with a mobile phone.

Hi Fab
That's great, see you in June and September, with Ayse at both. Yes, the Gentleman Farmer is the kit, you French do it so much better than the Brits. I have a brother who co-drove with Patrick Tambay at Goodwood a couple of years ago in a 250 GTO Ferrari, and I can report that Monsieur Tambay is the perfect example of the Gentleman Farmer! |

You two are determined to get me there in September, aren't you?!
My resistance is beginning to weaken (but so is the bank account...... ) |

Fab,
Well done on the programme info. I find it hard to believe there are no rrrraces before the main event, perhaps the old classics can only stand up to one race a year, and they've plumped for the September one. Shame, as some of the pre race events have been pretty good, remember the Lamboghini Diablo's? A great cocktail of rich boys with little experience and some old racers gunning for it. Have the pre-race events always been in the programmes? Good work Fab, we'll have to give you a secret agent number soon.. (0024?) BigH |

I'm happy when I can find something interresting for us -all is not, and sometimes my news are false... I red on ACO site that they should post the entry list saturday, and it came yesterday... But it's always fun to find something new ! I CAN'T believe ACO will do nothing between warm-up and race. I just CAN'T imagine it... but ACO is capable of everything... ... even maybe artistic skating (something I really hate, in fact... ) |

I'm sorry to doubt you Fab, but quite often the support race is not mentioned in the programme, in fact I cannot recall a list of entrants in the programme ever. Most years it is a bit of a surprise as to who turns up.
My money is on either the Ferrari Challange or another Lambo race this year. SL |

Simon, I hope God - sorry ACO - will hear you !
The strange thing is I saw nothing about the subject, except on ACO site where they say we'll have a french formula... |

Forgive MY ignorance, but I don't know ! From a french correspondant, it seems to be small one-sit (how do you say monoplace in english ?) cars, as very small F3000... sort of Volant Elf, you certainly have something like that in england...
No connection with endurance at all... |

That just doesn't make sense Fab! The world's greatest sportscar race and we get minor league single seaters as a support? (With all due respect to the series and the teams and drivers).
I would have thought there were sportscar series who would have fallen over themselves to have the support race at Le Mans? |

Please remember this is the ACO it doesn't have to make sense!! I don't think you will top the classics as support, I remember the Renault Spyders as support and that was horrible. |

Seems to make sense, loads of Sportcar fans so stage an minor series open wheeled race.
Which leads me nicely into the question. Will this be the first time open wheeled cars have raced on the full Le Mans circuit ? F1's raced in the 60's but on the Bugatti circuit. SL |

At my knowing, this is the first time... or it's very very old...
Last september, there was a meeting with a serie named "Euroboss", made with F1 of last decade... but on the Bugatti track... |
