Historic Sportscar Racing - Race 4 - The Finale at the Rock
Welcome another running of the Historic Sportscar Racing Series for the GT2 platform. This series is in its seventh season, and has been my favourite GT2 series. The cars are incredibly competitive and we have been lucky enough to have some of the best drivers, and closest competition around.
Many drivers in the past have chosen to drive multiple cars, with multiple nicks. Feel free to do so here, but just clearly mark what your alter-nick?will be so nobody is confused. Perhaps GT4 will see the historic cars added again, and hopefully with an even greater selection Past Champions Season 1 - Soccerboy - Datsun 240Z Season 2 - Fogelhund - Lotus Europa Season 3 - Didi - Lotus Elan Season 4- Fogelhund - Camaro Season 5 - Didi - Lotus Elan Season 6 - Fogelhund - Camaro The Racing prepared Class Rover Mini 1275 Mark 1 1964 Lotus Elan S2 71' Datsun/Nissan 240Z Lancia Stratos Lotus Europa 83' Mazda RX-7 GT-Turbo 86' Toyota MR2 1600G-Limited 71' Nissan Skyline 68' Toyota 2000GT Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 66' Shelby GT350 69 Camaro Z28 67' Corvette Stingray 82' Corvette Stingray 71' Lotus Elan S4 Note The administrative staff reserves the rights to modify options available on the cars should certain marques be too far ahead, or behind the other cars. There is no limit to the number of drivers choosing the same car General Guidelines and Rules We expect everybody to race cleanly, and within regular OLR guidelines. The series, including any protests or time inquiries is being run under granturismo.com race guidelines. If you are not familiar with these, please read the OLR FAQ at granturismo.com http://forum.granturismo.com/showth...?threadid=46235 Lack of knowledge of rules is not an excuse to break them. While this is not a dex certified series, you should be prepared to defend your times with a detailed RTI (I'll give you a format), and in extreme cases, we might require some type of save. While I would like to believe that everybody is honest, a select few have proved me wrong. I generally run most of the cars at each track that is run, and have a pretty good idea of what is possible. I would not recommend trying to pull a fast one here, you will be spotted. There will be random requests for a detailed RTI, or dex save. The placements of these random RTI will be determined before the start of each race. I am looking for a couple of volunteers who are PAL users, who can check DEX saves, for those who prefer DEX over RTI. Save your runs I would highly recommend that you always save your fastest runs, so that you can provide details later on. You must have two wheels on something paved at all times. This includes the curbs, rumbles strips and the two paved sections on the inside of the curbs at Rome Night. For the purpose of this series, if you can see more than two wheels off the track from the above replay view, the time is invalid. ANY touch of any wall, guardrail, building.. regardless of how hard will rule a time invalid. Going into this final race at Red Rock REVERSE, we have some fascinating battles for the final standings in the championship. Up front, it looks like a battle between Pumpkin Head in the Mini against Fogelhund in the Camaro. Whomever comes out ahead of the other at the Rock will take the championship.
For 3rd in the championship, rookie krtlex in the hard charging 67' Vette has passed the Lotus Europa of Rennsport Addict. The Europa has been known to be strong at the Rock in the past, and krtlex certainly has his work cut out for him, if he wants to stay on that final podium position. 5th and 6th are also very tight, with krt917 & Hare Turtle, seperated by just 4 points. Any of the positions 7th through 13th also seem to be up for grabs, with the possibility of people moving up 4 or more positions with a strong finish to the season. Good Luck, and have fun, most importantly, make sure you are going in the REVERSE direction. |

The Europa is moving along at 155mph here down the front straight, and carrying a huge amount of speed out of the final corner. Can D, Dennis Kaira or Jafa get up and give the Europa some company here? Is there a darkhorse in one of the Vettes who can challenge? The rest of Team Fogelhund has been left eating dust.

Hmmm too many replies to myself.
Pedalled the Mini to a S2 of 36.2 @ 153mph. Theoretically, there is another .14 second left for the whole lap, but we'll have to decide whether that is worth going after on another day. |

Press Release:
It was with a heavy heart that Fennec Racing withdrew it's entry from the Grand Valley round of the championship. "We just couldn't afford it." stated chief mechanic Teryaki. "Those overseas rounds cost too much, and we blew the championship at Apricot Hill. It's a shame too, Lee's always been fast at Grand Valley." The team at this time intends to compete in their home event at Red Rock Valley. "We cancelled the transporter lease, so I'm going to have to drive the car to the track." driver Lee Janotta stated. "The car was fast in pre-season testing, hopefully we can get a good result, and maybe impress some new sponsors for next season." |

team GTV sector 2 times 'stang 37.877 @ 253.79 km/h Z28 37.664 @ 261.75 km/h 'vette 36.842 @ 278.11 km/h team GTV is also now treating this season as a development exercise and looking to the next season team principal Gran Turismo is reported as saying "if we hadn't hired so many slack arsed damn drivers and spread our efforts across three piles of junk, then maybe we would've had half a chance - I need a drink" He was last seen storming off to the hospitality suite to raid the mini-bar. team GTV drivers are reporting again consulting with their managers and legal representatives to see if a liable case would stand up (unfortunately, the times they have been posting is prima facie evidence to the contrary) the drivers now hope to trim a bit more time buy adopting the strategy of "drive it like you stole it" as the concept of mechanical sympathy has suddenly been abandoned more news to follow |

Fogelhund has the Camaro at 36.3 @163mph. The car has another 4 tenths potential for the overall lap, which would put him ahead of Pumpkin Head's potential. For now, the Camaro lags the Mini by just a bit less then 1/10th of a second. The battle for the championship will go down to the wire here.

--Breaking News--
Team GTV drivers GTV27 and GTV28 hav found that attacking the course with complete disregard for the machinery pays dividends. GT350 36.708 @ 256km/h Z28 39.294 @ 266.63km/h However the penalty for this approach is that both cars and now completely stuffed, and will go no faster. GTV26 tried the same approach in the Vette, but found that it bit back...HARD...and consequently found no more speed (but found the walls a number of times). Drivers were last seen grabbing anything not nailed down, and heading off the the hotel with the grid girls - Team manager is reportedly not amused, but reasonably happy with the times. Was last seen posting a notice: For Sale Mustang, Camaro and Corvette Only driven gently on weekends For tender as is, where is Cash preferred Signing off from Red Rock Valley |

Europa is done, as are the rest of the cars. I tried to get a perfect lap in the Europa, but couldn't get it. I've left off about 3 tenths in the last two sectors, but thankfully had a perfect S2 at 34.8.

Hey Foge, could you give me a hand on gearing? I've got no grunt coming through the last corner, just when I need it. Plus, the car's getting really squirrely under braking. Whatcha think? Diff adjustment?

Lee, you should be coming out of that last corner without lifting at all. My fastest speed was 134mph coming out, but 129- 132 is average. You won't need to do much at all with the gears except lower the final drive to get to top 164mph.
Brakes - brake only in a straight line and only twice on the track. Except for those braking points, never lift. I tried variuos setups and it didn't help, the car is just squirrely. Fast though if you can put one together. |

Have just managed to get a couple of hours in between essays (how's your work going Lee?).
Managed a 36.26 with the Stingray, but can't get the Mustang sorted - have done a 37.1. Potential is there, but not the time (thought I could use that excuse this week!) Reckon you've got me this time GTV! |

I'm not lifting, Foge. But at that point, the engine's lugging low in 5th gear, or bouncing off the rev limiter in 4th. So I've got no power, and lose too much speed as I fight to keep the rear end in line.
I'm just not that good at qualifying because I've always judged my braking point as "2 feet deeper than the guy in front of me." |

Nah, I was up in the 1:16s on Friday, and haven't had time to do any more tuning. I'm going crazy trying to prepare myself for this comp. religions midterm at 2.
Sorry Foge... Hopefully next time I'll be able to hang around for the whole thing. |
