Rusty French is awesome
Many of you know I like to have a crack at a few people that are part of the FPR organisation, for good reason in my opinion.
The owners however I have nothing but respect for - I've had dealings with Rod Nash when I was a competitor myself and he was a real nice guy. Anybody who loves our sport would have to know Rusty French but apart from his long history at Bathurst he has raced most things, but he has a particularly awesome list of GT cars - including 3 Porsche 935s and 3 Detomaso Panteras. Lets face it, the man has taste. Anyway at the tender age of 71 Rusty had a crack in Cameron Waters' Dunlop series car, on the way to Tim Edwards letting him drive Frosty's car! http://www.speedcafe.com/2014/06/03/...r-v8-supercar/ This we need more of. I have a lot of respect for Rusty for giving it a go, especially given his age. Mind you it was probably easier to drive than his TCM ride! How awesome would it be if Roland, DJ Walky or Garry Rogers cut some laps? |

Roland Dane drove one a few years back.
Garry Rogers has driven a car in the recent past, too. |

Should have a team owners race after the last race

This story is right up there with:
"NRL Club Owner kicks ball" and "AFL CEO goes to Gym".... Nice that he had a squirt at a test day in one of the cars he owns, but it's hardly ground breaking..... Now if he rolled up as a wildcard at Bathurst, that'd be awesome. |

And he was the best placed Aussie at Le Mans in the year of the Aussie invasion. (1984)

Suppose it is safer him driving a race car than flying a plane

It's rather ironic that after having a sponsor named 'John Sands' in the 1980's that he should end up with a totally unrelated business named 'Skye Sands'.
Alan Browne came and went from big-time motor racing pretty quickly. |
