Qualifying for the next race...
So will Trulli have to come out first for the next race as he was the first "official" retirement ?

I'd imagine he would be the last of the Michelin runners out seeing as none of the other retiries completed any more of the race than he did as they were all behind him when they retired. Wouldn't that classify him ahead of the rest?

Yes, it must be that the last car on the grid (Minardi and Jordan aside) will have to go out first. Raikkonen and Trulli will be the last to come out and after them will come the 6 Bridgestone runners...
1 1 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 73 1:29:43.181 5 10 2 2 Rubens Barrichello Ferrari 73 +1.5 secs 7 8 3 18 Tiago Monteiro Jordan-Toyota 72 +1 Lap 17 6 4 19 Narain Karthikeyan Jordan-Toyota 72 +1 Lap 19 5 5 21 Christijan Albers Minardi-Cosworth 71 +2 Lap 18 4 6 20 Patrick Friesacher Minardi-Cosworth 71 +2 Lap 20 3 Ret 16 Jarno Trulli Toyota 0 Withdrew 1 Ret 9 Kimi Räikkönen McLaren-Mercedes 0 Withdrew 2 Ret 3 Jenson Button BAR-Honda 0 Withdrew 3 Ret 6 Giancarlo Fisichella Renault 0 Withdrew 4 Ret 5 Fernando Alonso Renault 0 Withdrew 6 Ret 4 Takuma Sato BAR-Honda 0 Withdrew 8 Ret 7 Mark Webber Williams-BMW 0 Withdrew 9 Ret 12 Felipe Massa Sauber-Petronas 0 Withdrew 10 Ret 10 Juan Pablo Montoya McLaren-Mercedes 0 Withdrew 11 Ret 11 Jacques Villeneuve Sauber-Petronas 0 Withdrew 12 Ret 17 Ricardo Zonta Toyota 0 Withdrew 13 Ret 15 Christian Klien Red Bull Racing 0 Withdrew 14 Ret 8 Nick Heidfeld Williams-BMW 0 Withdrew 15 Ret 14 David Coulthard Red Bull Racing 0 Withdrew 16 So, DC must come out first.... |

That would seem logical,
but as he entered pit lane first, he also technically withdrew first ??? DKGandBH |

Techincally he had covered less distance before retiring by starting further up the grid too! This is assuming you retire when you pass the pit lane entry and are declared retired. Or perhaps only once you reach your pit space you are retired. Tape measures out!

Surely Ralf would be the first out (assuming he starts the next race) as he didn't qualify for Indy?

Yeah, Ralf would be first.
BUT the thing is they didn't "retire", they "withdrew" so maybe that's a different situation and that's why things go like that. |

Ralf will be out first, then DC, Heidfeld...etc etc all the way to Michael.
That's definite! |

Order will be like Kicking-back wrote.
The order of first-lap retirements in the classification is determined by their grid position. If at Indianapolis we would have had normal race and Trulli had crashed at first corner and then Coulthard had crashed at the oval corner on the first lap, Trulli would have been still ahead of Coulthard in classification. |

The running order for Qualifying for the next race will be exactly like Kicking-back said it will be.
