How to put a Seat in a Single seater

I'm living the dream and after years of asking you all questions about it, I've managed to find and buy a racing car, so now I'm going to ask MORE questions!!

My car is a Leastone Formula Vee and I have a budget in place to race next year ( I love that, "budget in place" like I dont just mean I've saved up enough money )

Only problem is the gent who drove it befor me was a tall thin man over 6 foot, and I am, how should I put this..... more of a short round type.
I'm moving peadals and gear shifts as we speak but he had made himself one of those home mould seats.

I could do a home mould for my self but I would like to fit a standard seat insted.
But I have no idea where to find one. Any ideas or advice?

Weight in a single seater is a big factor, once you have put in the seat and all the fittings I suspect you will have added quite a lot more kilos than one of the moulded seats.
If you make the mould properly it should be a lot more comfortable than a seat and more supportive as it will fit you precisely, plus they are quite a chunk cheaper.
If you really must have a seat try demon tweeks.

Have fun

For a single seater I'd go for the plastic bag and urathane foam approach. Cheaper and much more comfortable. And of course so much lighter.

I had exactly the same problem with my vee. In my case it was easier to put a seat in than move the pedals. I fitted a fibreglass seat from AHS (Alan Harding pm me if you need a number). It depends on your size and shape but the seat fits me really well so I don't need any additional support. Some of the guys in UK vee use the 2 pack moulding kits but the Leastone drivers I know use a fibreglass seat.
A good fitting seat is must so make sure you get it right.

Thanks for the input folks,
Weight isnt going to be a problem there is already balast in the car to get it up to weight so that can come out to compensate for the seat.
I still might have to go for a 2 pack mould but I'm going to try and get my hands on a seat first, Demon Tweeks dont have anything in that line (well on the website anyway) but I have got a few more small places to try so I may yet find one.

If it comes to it I may even try and make my own Fiber glass seat, but its good to know that if all else fails I can still do a 2pack mould.

I'll let you know how I get on, and if anything comes to anyone in the mean time please shout.
Cheers

Try URS 01953 789 223 for a fibreglass one, but a foam 2 pack is the way to go, not that I use one but will do next season!

Indy seats in Demon Tweeks look good, if some what more expensive. Any body out there with any experience of them?

I found some of the best F/Glass seats are Kart seats - they come in all sizes and fit nice and snug round the sides. Demon Tweeks do them in their catalogue.

Demon Tweeks sell the 2 pack stuff for about £25, it is in the catalogue or they'll have it at Autosport International Show

I brought a great big 50kg pack from:
http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS...Liquid_61.html

These guys were a good price and I could not find others at similar cost.

Just to stick in my penny's worth.... I'd also recommend a homemade job for comfort, cost, weight etc etc.

Cheers

Boating/building 2 pack foam is the same and cheaper.

I don't think a kart seat will work.

Either the chassis manufacturer will maybe sell you a fibreglass seat, or make your own which will be better anyway.

Larger people, perhaps unlike yourself, can always just jump in with a bit of foam rubber and sit on the chassis!

I used a boat 2 pack years ago. It worked a treat. The only trouble was as it expanded it got b****y hot! Wear your Race Suit if you use it.

Not your best one though, an old one that you don't care about in case of spillages.
