Moosehead should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Anyone remember.............

an ex Broadspeed Mini being raced in the late '60's through '70's by an American. The car was in Aston Villa colours and featured a beam axle, Webers and perspex windows among other mods.

Any info appreciated (on car or driver)

Bill Gubleman?

Hi! just wondered if your thinking of Bill Gubleman, he was racing then, and I'm almost sure I raced against him in such a car.......? Although, I may be wrong? Any ideas Andrew? Was it Bill? Gerry.

Did Bill race F.Atlantic later around '74 ish?
The name rings a bell in connection with Minis but I cannot recall the car or colour.

If memory serves me correctly, Bill Gubelman was seriously injured in a Shellsport Group 8 (or similar) race at Mallory in the later 1970s. Think he was racing an F2 March and I'm unsure if he ever raced again after that.

Bill Gubelmann I had a March 772 for the Yellow Pages Atlantic Championship. I vaguely remember the Mallory accident in the Shellsport series but I think it could have been in a Shadow F1 car.

Any more for anymore?? My interest in this is that a friend of mine believes he owns the Mini. It was sort of converted to a road car but has been in storage for years. The plan is to now restore it to its race spec so any info or pics would be gratefully recieved.

Gubelman was badly injured in a G8 race at Mallory in mid-76. He was in his 'well-used' F2 March, then described as a 742, and crashed with Mike Wilds in the PR Reilly F1 Shadow. Don't think he ever raced again after this. He was involved also with Bob Gerard, and Bob Salisbury too IIRC.

I've only just seen this thread. I was at the meeting when Gubleman was injured. The accident happened on the entry to the Esses and his car rolled. There was a photo of it in the following weeks Autosport. I have often wondered what happened to him.
