If I am right it's a private project (like the Prodrive Ferrari project). AM is not heavy finacial involved.
EDIT: After reading this I am a bit confused about the involvment of AM. Last edited by FIRE; 17 Sep 2004 at 15:38. |

I have the original (limited edition) proposal brochure. Given that the cars are returned to Aston Works for sale after the programme and are only ever "on loan" I would guess AM are funding the original development. But they do have drivers "on contract" for next year so I guess if there was a doubt this wouldn't have been signed.

I believe that AM is assisting Prodrive, but was told that Ford specifically forbade AM from investing $ in this project. You'll find further details posted by "Hindy" on this forum previously.
I would think that the Mazda LMP2 program would be at more risk with what is going on. Last edited by Fogelhund; 17 Sep 2004 at 16:24. |

ford will not cut the mazda project and the AM project is definitely safe... the major cost cutting is going to take place mostly within the jaguar brand in an attempt to streamline and refocus the struggling marque

But the cost cutting is not only occuring within the Jaguar brand. Ford is also looking at cutting the WRC program, which is under the Ford banner. At this point, nothing is safe. But, I personally feel the Aston Martin program is reasonably safe, as Ford's investment here is not as great. However, the Mazda project could well be at risk.

Is the Mazda LMP2 project paid by Mazda N. America?

I would not think the Mazda program will be cut, I mean from a marketing standpoint it could do nothing but help down the road for Mazda, even if it is owned by Ford. I still question why jaguar was in F1 this long ****ing away money. Wonder how long Toyota will hang around...

Until they win. Cf. CART, IRL.
