Autosport?
How come Autosport.com has no FIA GT coverage?

Pretty shabby that Maserati's first international victory for God knows how many years has yet to rate a mention on Autosport.com.

Go take a look in "Armchair Enthusiast" for the lastest critique on Autosport's performance. I'll be moving this thread to join the rest of it there soon.......

This is specifically Autosport.com rather than the magazine.
In terms of race reports it can often be quite behind the pace. |

No real difference to Autosport magazine then - where the cry is that unless its F1 you don't get much of a report anyway.. ...

Formula 1 dominates half the magazine every week, even when there hasn't been a race... Its no surprise after you cram in WRC, Club Autosport and the ads section there's not a lot left over for other stuff.

Their Grand-Am reports are rubbish too.

But, as K-b rightly pointed out, this is really about the website - so, is that better than the mag, worse, or just a useful extra?

Pretty bad news. I actually wanted to subscribe a long time ago, but never did because it's quite expensive if you live abroad. Lately I thought of subscribing anyway, even the misses agreed
So it ain't worth it? |

Used to use it, but it started to insist I registered and then the reports went downhill, so I go to Crash.net instead.

Seldom purchase this comic these days. On line here, DSC, Crash.net or motorsport.
Autosport is yet another F1 groupie mag. Will be interesting to see how they'll stimulate reports and fill half a mag when there are no Ford engines on the grid for 2005!!! Jaguar having pulled the plug on the F1 prgramme. |

I think it would be a better attitude to fully support Sportscar racing and hope that our sport gets built back up to the state it was in during the glory days.
Admittedly it is harder to do that as opposed to simply wishing ill-fortune on something else. I hope we aren't sticking our heads in the sand here and just blaming Autosport. Why aren't Autosport covering it, yet they are Rally, Touring Cars, ChampCar, F3000, IRL, World Series by Nissan, etc...??? The ETCC races got very good coverage on Autosport.com over the weekend, yet FIA GTs didn't? They were at the same meeting. Eurosport seems only keen to cover the ETCC races, they are pushing for a change in the package to make that the main event. The WTCC is simultaneously coming along too. Coverage for that will not be a problem. I've seen the ETCC mentioned in normal newspapers, but the FIA GT? Still F1 is losing a team, we can feel good about Sportscar then? Or maybe it might be a bigger reflection on the Sport? Last edited by Adam43; 20 Sep 2004 at 22:57. |
