And the 2001 Winston Cup Champion will be.....
I am not sure but it will be one of these four drivers:
Rank/Driver/Points/Points Behind Leader 1 Jeff Gordon 2351 --- 2 Dale Jarrett 2216 -135 3 Ricky Rudd 2206 -145 4 Tony Stewart 2117 -234 There are 20 races left in the season and anything can happen since we still have two restrictor-plate and three short track races left in the schedule. |

I would LOVE to disagree with you...but unfortunatly-you are probabally right. Gordhead will get his 4th.
I would like to say that Ricky Rudd would get it for the historic value of the 28. Would LOVE to say that Tony could jump up & overtake it all! He's got a mean spirit that I totally respect. But then....I'm an old DE diehard. I like 'em mean! Can't help it- Always have. |

Roselady, you may have misinterpreted my post but those standings are the current one and I feel that those four drivers are really the only ones left in the championship hunt. I am not conceding the championship to Gordon just yet but he does like to be the one to beat right now. However, Tony Stewart is still a factor because he has definately been a second half driver his first two years in Cup. Jarrett usually has a better second half than first but then again, so does Gordon. Rudd is a longshot but someone who will only win if the others have too many problems.

Well, it ain't very likely I'll admit, but I have this feeling about Johnny Benson. Could someone actually win a Championship without winning a race??? In any case, his day is coming...

Since Rudd broke through "the barrier" I say don't discount him. Might not win it, but will be in the hunt, and will press till the very end. I'd love to see him win it!

I hope someone other than Jeff(i cheat)Gordon. Tony Stewart would be a great champion. My favourite and current champion, Bobby Labonte, seems to be out of the title race

I would love to see Tony Stewart take the title but I don't think it will happen this year. Jeff (too good for some people to accept)Gordon has as good a chance as anyone, I think I'd put my money on him.
As for Dale Jarrett, I liked him before he won the championship, but the haggard look on his face now reflects the fact that he knows what we all know, ....he ain't repeating. |
