Volvo to replace Jaguar
Volvo is coming to formula 1 next year.
Minardi will run this years Jaguar engines in there cars next year, but they will be rebadged as Volvo. This will give Ford an excellent marketing opportunity with both its prestige brands on display. The team will be known as Minardi Volvo racing. The only thing i want to know is where they will be able to put the bowls hat. But i suppose it will mean that it is ok for a minardi to drive slowly in the fast lane |

Stoddard really did this deal with Volvo?
It makes a sick sort of sense doesn't it? Valve Bounce to replace Marques. Lawn bowls rules. |

Minardi Volvo - I like it.
Will their lights be on all the time? Will they be penelised for cutting people off all the time? Will they be able to find drivers old enough to fit their marketing image (is Moss still racing)? Will Valve be faster than Marques? So many questions |

Minardi could be good though, that Cosworth is not a bad engine. |

Minardi Volvo
Minardi should benefit from Volvo which is a big outfit in Automobiles and I also believe Military Aircraft. Depending on how much money they put into Minardi they may be far better than this year. Who would of thought that BMW Williams would of been a contender this year?

I believe the decision to use Volvo came after Minardi boasted that their team is the first to pass the impact tests...!
But before i buy it fully, where did you get this from? |

wow, well at least the minardi will be the safest car on the grid, and possibly have a 6 cd stack in the back and about 10 million airbags in it

However, Don, I believe that Volvo Aero is part of the Volvo Group and is not owned by FoMoCo, as Volvo Cars is.
Similarly, when GM bought SAAB, I don't believe that they got SAAB Aerospace or Scania Trucks. |

The logos look quite similar though. How do they do that when they are sponsoring? Wouldn't companies like "Volvo Trucks" and "Volvo Buses" benefit when Ford would be using the Volvo brand name in F1? I guess "Volvo Cars" does benefit by Volvo's sponsorship of Golf tournaments. |

Let's not forget, Volvo also has a great side impact system. Maybe Minardi could attract JPM to their team - it beats this Alex fellow.

I have my doubts about this. Ford's motorsport marketing plan, unless it's changed, was to give each marque it's own racing identity: Ford/Nascar, Jag/F1, Land Rover/off road, Volvo/Wagering on the date the ice will melt and the car falls through.

Hmm, I've found no mentions of this at any major F1 site.

Wow! Volvo in F1! I never thought this would happen. I did see a small article in Autosport saying Stoddart was in discussions with Ford and Renault about engines.
