Rubens to DJR!!!???

On Triple M's rumour file this morning, one caller claimed that Rubens Barichello is a done deal to race a Falcon at this year's Bob Jane Bathurst 1000.

He went on to say that the deal has been put together by Shell and that Rubens and Max Wilson are good mates, so if it happens, guess what car he'll be in.

Your thoughts?

About as likely as any of the other rumours floating round I guess. But Ferrari is mainly owned by Fia spa, and Fiat Auto (part of Fiat spa) were part owned by GM. So wouldn't an appearance in a Holden make more sense - or a better story!

I didnt think they smoked the wacky backy until later on at night on MMM....

I doubt that Rubens would give up racing at Suzuka for the last round of the F1 series to drive a DJR car... surely even he has standards

It seemed highly unlikely to me, but I thought i would see what you guys thought. The caller sounded sincere, evidently he believes it.

However, if it is on at the same time as the Jap GP, it will not happen.

I found out today where this rumour started, way back at the GP. Like I have said elsewhere, half the time the teams start the rumours themselves, then sit back and wait for it to take off, and **** themselves laughing.

There are no free slots at SBR. I doubt that they would want to pay another expensive hotshot when they have Mark Winterbottom on staff with more potential than most!

I'm not sure it would be in his nature to do so.... a genuinely nice kid, obviously from a good family, who despite what he is achieving in the motorsport world, doesnt seem adversely affected by it....
