BMS Scuderia Italia Increase FIA GT title bid
According to this weeks AUTOSPORT magasine, the BMS team that runs in the FIA GT series is introducing another Ferrari 550, that will be 3 cars being run by the team. The drivers are to be former Carsport Holland pairing, Fabrizo Gollin and Luca Cappellari.
The team has also said they will retain the 2002 line up in the other 2 cars. More good news for the FIA GT series then! |

The Rafanelli-Ferraris are said to be completely revised and overthought for 2003. With the DART-Team as a regular, we should have at least four competitive 550s.

And in the last lap Dieter Quester has to let the BMS-car overtake because a blue Ferrari is not allowed to win...

Not that DART and BMS are the same team.
And, who says DQ would give a flying about team orders. |

lol, the thing is BMS arent the closest team to being offical ferrari, although they are in the FIA GT, the closest to being a Ferrari team is Prodrive, after all BMS have ex Prodrive built cars, and should have the 6.0ltr version for this year rather than the 5.7ltr which they have been using.

The F550s have 6l engines already.
Ferrari doesn't care much for the F550 in racing; there won't be any team orders there (and they won't be needed either!). N-GT is a different story. |

Nope, the JMB team and Veloq cars arent prepared by Ferrari or even by Prodrive, they have no influence over team orders in any way. None of the drivers for either team is a Ferrari factory driver either, so team orders aint a issue.

Nope, Andrea Piccini and Deltraz (the lead drivers.) arent Ferrari drivers. Neither are the guys in the Prodrive cars, although they are just the same standard as the works ferrari drivers (barring MS and Rubens of course), but thats because Prodrive is a big outfit.

previously being the operative word. Ferrari has no control over BMS or Prodrive as it is at the moment.

Is Ferrari interested at all in GT-550s? Once there was a shootout of a Raffanelli against a Prodrive at Fiorano, but that was it. Or have you seen any factory-related sponser on a BMS-Prodrive...

In this, it's the same thing as was with the 333SP's. They are customer chassis, bought by teams or wealthy Privateers to race with. Parts and spares are sold to them, as with any particular amount of evolution of the cars, by appointed Third-party companies.
This keeps Ferrari's hands clean, and allows them to concentrate on their major racing entity, their Formula 1 team. |
