Porscheman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What is the spec and performance of a V8 STAR

Hi All

I am trying to get as much info as possible on the cars from the V8 Star series that ran in 2001/2002/2003 in Germany

I have been running a 997 GT3 cup car in club racing for the last 2 years and am considering buying a V8 Star as i feel the performance would be simular and i recon it would be a lot cheaper to run

What sort of HP did these cars have and would they be cheap to run also would they do simular times to a GT car like the 997 cup

Also what kind of value are these cars worth now

Engine spec: 5.7l V8, 500PS, 600Nm... IIRC the engines were tuned down to last a full season of 7 or 8 races, all of them about 70 minutes long.

The black Passat in Dutch Supercar Challenge isn't in original V8 Star spec. They replaced the engine by a bigger one and I think they did also other modifications.

I supposse that will be a major problem: Many V8-Stars have been upgraded to a higher spec and a few have most probably been written off. I am not sure if there are any available right now.

Perhaps the webmaster of www.v8-star-fan.de can help you. You can find the contact information here.

If the V8-Star thing does - for whatever reason - not work out for you, you might want to take a look at the DNRT V8 cars - which offer similar performance and technology. Prices and maintenance costs are suppossedly really attractive, too - as far as that can be said when racecars are involved. At the recent New Year's Race at Zaandvoort, the DNRT V8s had no problem following a GT3 Corvette and a Porsche Cup-S, but then that was a race run under very irregular weather conditions...
I am also not sure if you could get one without racing in DNRT.

What's wrong with a V8Supercar?

Current For Sale

There are a number of these a little older but almost identical spec, kicking around for a similar buy price to a 911 GT3

The aussie V8 are expensive to run and dont look so nice and i also have to pay import taxes to bring one to europe

I was talking to the guy with this http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listin...acing_Car.html and he tells me it is 420BHP and has been used as a school car since it stopped racing in 2001 and it has no spare parts whatsoever

He tells me that all 2001 car were 420BHP and the 2002/2003 cars had 500BHP

The V8 Star are pretty basic and easy to run for someone like me in club racing

There was a V8 star Omega racing in one of the Castle Combe series a couple of years back, that was advertised for sale last year at £65K if my memory serves me right (not sure what that price included - car only or spares too). Very nice bit of kit

A couple of V8 stars have been in the Britcar series. Rick Wood had one and Phil Bennet drove one. Fast but fragile.
