Microsoft Grand Prix, Redmond WA

The Seattle WA thread reminded me of some other minor company in Washington: Microsoft. The city of Redmond has a number of parks, one of which is Marymoor Park. It has some useful roads, which I extended a little to make a decent 3.5 km (2.2 mi) race track. Check it out:

Does it run clockwise? If so, the start-finish-straight must be the one at the bottom of the picture. Then the section that follows Marymoor Road beginning at Turn 1 all the way down towards the hairpin on the right hand side of the picture, is a really great section.
But that chicane behind that #1 marker there - is it really necessary? Without it, there would be another place to overtake under braking.

With Microsoft being the FIA's official future engine electronics supplier, and the Indianapolis deal having been prolongued for merely another year, Redmond might indeed be the future of the US Grand Prix of Formula 1 ;-)

I designed the track to be counter-clockwise, but the other way around makes sense, too. However, then the chicane right before the last corner is a bit useless. And about that 'chicane', it's not really the stop-start chicane we see nowadays. The part between the right- and left-hander is a bit over 50 m (130 ft).
