2018 Pirelli World Challenge Rounds 3 & 4: Circuit of the Americas
Next up for Pirelli World Challenge is the Grand Prix of Texas at the Circuit of the Americas, the first two Sprint-X races and first two rounds for the Touring Car classes.
GT As it did last year, Sprint-X brings in some big names. Scott Hargrove will be joined by former Porsche factory driver and ALMS champion Wolf Henzler. Bentley factory pilots Andy Soucek and Maxime Soulet join Alvaro Parente and Rodrigo Baptista at KPAX, while Ferrari factory driver Miguel Molina will be Toni Vilander's co-driver at R. Ferri. Ryan Dalziel and Spencer Pumpelly also feature in the Truspeed Audi and Alegra Porsche, respectively. Both the Callaway Corvette and CRP Mercedes have yet to announce their Sprint-X driver, with only Keilwitz and Morad listed in their cars currently. Several extra GT/GTA entries, Black Swan has a Porsche for Tim Pappas and Jeroen Bleekemolen, Lone Star has entered a Mercedes in Pro/Pro with drivers TBA. DXDT has both a Mercedes and a Lamborghini. GTS GTS has a Texas-sized entry of 38 cars for COTA. Some teams are running a second driver, while others are opting to run the more traditional style single driver. I'm not even going to attempt to unpack the whole list here, but most of the cars from St. Pete are back, now joined by another McLaren, another Porsche, another Mercedes, a KTM XBow, another SIN and several more BMWs. Names like Michael Cooper, Andy Pilgrim, Ryan Eversley, Colin Braun and Kyle Marcelli can be spotted among the GTS co-drivers. TCR, TC, TCA TCR makes it's PWC debut with four manufacturers: Audi, Alfa Romeo, Hyundai and Volkswagen. The fourteen car field includes some fantastic teams and drivers: Bryan Herta Autosport is bringing some serious talent with Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins slated to pilot the Hyundais. PWC regulars Realtime Racing brings Ryan Eversley to drive one of their Hondas with the other car TBA. TC and TCA bring steady numbers, with TechSport Racing debuting their Subaru BRZ ts race cars in TCA. There are actually five manufacturers in the TCR Class, as you left out Honda with the Civic Type-R.

Also worth noting that the Mancinelli TR3 car has gone, replaced by a funded Am car.
Shame to lose one of the series stand outs if it is indeed the case. Over a petty disagreement on BOP. The Ferrari's ran well at St Pete anyway... Pace wise |

The 2017 Ferrari ran well at St.Pete, I didn't see a 2018 Ferrari doing anything useful.

Well, to be fair, the 2018 TR3 team refused to qualify and race, and the car was subsequently withdrawn, so we'll never know where it would have finished in either race, but with all the other retirements, they could have picked up a lot of points, assuming the car had finished in both races! The GTA entry of Martin Fuentes would never be as competitive as Vilander anyway, regardless of whether it ran in 2017 or 2018 spec!

GT3 field looks still very small and not stable with just 15 cars devided in 3 classes (7x pro) (5x pro-am) (3x am)

TR3 did not agree with this, as the 991 old spec and 991 2018 spec not had differences in BoP. |

It's not really markedly different, though. 3 more entries than St Pete, but that DeGeorge car isn't going to be anything but a rolling roadblock (assuming he doesn't write the car off in practice first).
I think they need some more subclasses, though. |

The latest entry list update has an additional two entries in the GTC Class, and the R-Ferri Ferrari 488 GT3 has been rebuilt following Vilander's crash at St. Pete., and will now be running in 2018 spec.
