Taylor's monster IRL crash?!?!?!
Just heard that Mark Taylor had a monster crash in yesterays IPS race where another car landed on top of his car! Mark was unhurt but has anyone got a weblink to the video of this as the on-board camera is supposed to be spectacular!

Haven't seen the crash myself, I found this article though. Seems he collided with Arie Luyendyk jr, the pole sitter for the race.

Arie got the worst of it- he flipped over and landed right-side-up, but on top of Mark. Scary!!! I hate these crashes! Glad everyone's ok.

Arie has apologised to Mark and accepted responsibility for the incident. He says that his spotter said "Taylor looking outside" so he moved up to close the door and hit Mark's front wheel. The spotter should have said "Taylor outside" and Arie would have kept his line. However in Indycar racing changing lines to close the door is frowned on for this very reason. For the record the spotter was 2 time indy 500 winner Arie sr.

No not that kind of glorious - I mean in "lots" of detail. they repeat it from several angles.

I just read this at the right time - I went to have a look and there it was. That was indeed a scary crash...Arie went into a frightning series of flips before hitting the wall - didnt appear to hit it too hard though. At least both drivers are unhurt.
Now lets have full IPS coverage Eurosport! |

Thats probably the worst crash i've ever seen. Brack is a lucky guy to get away with that. Hope he recovers fully from it, that sort crash usually ends your life, let alone your career!

Does that remind anyone of the crash that killed Jeff Krosnoff in 96? Kenny's damn lucky to be alive and I think the constant evolution of the open wheel chassis since then kept him from being killed (some divine intervention may have helped too).

Yeah, but the big problem Krosnoff had was a lamp post IN FRONT of the catch fencing, which hit the cockpit directly. If it wasn't for that, I think he might have survived.
Kenny is a very lucky boy...and open-wheel racing in the US is very lucky that there were no spectators in the grandstand behind it. |

It wasn't luck that there were no spectators near, the IRL don't allow spectators in the first 10 rows for this reason.
