economy_waffle should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
honda want to drop one team...

apparently, honda want to drop either BAR or Jordan at the end of the year cos they cant really keep up with the developments for the different chassis or sumink like that.
who's it gonna b? i think prob Jordan cos BAR have better relation cos BAR used honda last year, Jordan used Mugen Honda which is a totally different part of Honda...and BAR have Jacques Villneuve......

Jordan will be dropped.

After all, BAR is reportedly up for sale. Do you see Eddie Jordan selling his team?

I saw it in Autosport. I too think that Jordan will be dropped (unfortunatley ) because Honda have a far higher chance of owning BAR in the future than they do of buying out EJ. The fazing out of tobacco advertising by 2006 also means that surely BAT (tobacco giant and owners of BAR) will have too sell up before then anyway.

haha...autosport cant be always right~

But should Honda really choose only one team, Jordan is a better short term bet... a team with a pretty strong technical base, consistently fast car, and a driver pairing that is as strong as BAR. It would take lesser time for Honda to get up to top speed with the top 3.

But long term, surely BAR would be better. While BAR's technical people are not as established as Jordan's in F1, but they are improving real quick. Coupled with Honda's own F1 people, and the fact that BAR had a 2 year old high tech factory at their disposal, BAR would be the choice long term.

Everone seems to be assuming that Honda (and any other car manufacturer) are looking for long term success over short term. I'd argue agains that. Although the teams certainly want the long term solution I think the Car giants are just looking for quick fixes.

It's not really any secret that they aren't planning on hanging around in F1 for decades at a time. They most likely want to get in, Get a couple of championships to boost their image and then retire from the sport on a high. When their sales start to drop in 5 or so years they will come back for another crack.

Again, the teams may want long term success, but the manufacturers? I'm not so sure...

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
To be honest, I cannot see EJ letting control of Team Jordan slip away. Once Honda gets their fingers on a tam, it will be their own team, and they will call all the shots. This is only my roundabout reasoning (something like the reductio ad absurdum thing we used in Geometry) to prove that Honda will go for BAR.

BAT want to get rid of their share in BAR, so effectively the team is up for sale. BAR will become Honda, and Jordan will be left without the engines.

i think possibly, that maybe toyota could sell their engine (if it proves to be decent this year) ferrari could be a possibility or maybe even mercedes could (finally) sell their engine to another team...

That's the bad side of the situation :

Minardi, Jordan, Arrows and Prost are in danger, with the new formula becoming a reality. Altough any of the carmakers supply them engines they will never be challenging enough as the carmakers owned teams.

Honda wanted their own team - started, then their designer died. They wanted a team they could influence - BAR. Why did they take Jordan on? Short-term results. You're only as good as your last race in F1, and short-term results are imperative. BAT are sick of sinking money into BAR, and are on the look-out for a buyer. Honda wants a ready-made team, BAR are there and ready - not good enough to need a high price, but they have solid F1 experience. EJ won't sell up until he retires - he's having too much fun.

But what team would want to be answerable to "Dennis the Menace" and his Mclaren/Mercedes bullies.

Right.

Apart from Ferrari and Williams, wich are the same level of McLarens, each team Boss have strong attitudes. Nobody would want to stay under Dennis shoes.

BAT have no plans to sell BAR.

BTW, speaking of BAT, what will happen after 2006? Will they just continue with a "Lucky Tribe" or "Lookalike" logo instead of Luckies?

Thats why they want to sell up, there is know way a tobacco giant will be allowed to continue sponsoring their own cars when the tabacco ban comes into affect. Why do you think teams like Williams, Sauber, Minardi etc have already made moves away from tobacco advertising.
