IMSA 2018 year in review
So much talk about the future. Hope this thread can focus on the events that occurred during the 2018 season.
Best race: Virginia International Raceway Best cars: 1) Prototype: Oreca 07 2) GTLM: Ford GT 3) GTD: Lamborghini Best drivers: 1) Prototype: Colin Braun 2) GTLM: Dirk Mueller 3) GTD: Alvardo Parente Biggest underachievers: Acura Team Penske Dumbest move: tie- Gainsco car hitting Action Express Caddy at start of Laguna Seca race triggering chain reaction crash Yacaman/Mazda collision also at Laguna Seca Best liveries: Porsche GT Team (traditional), Paul Miller Lambo (black/green trim at Road Atlanta) Worst liveries: Shank Acura (just too much going on), BMW M8 black (just does not work this time, prefer to have 2 whites and match their WEC counterpart) Won't be missed: Continental (punctures galore at Daytona and Road Atlanta), Gustavo Yacaman (please don't come back to IMSA....ever) Will be greatly missed: Don Panoz -The TV coverage on IMSA's in-house broadcast (not FOX), took a step down this year. TV director's shots and decisions were poor. Not enough coverage of the GT racing. Prototype got a very disproportionate amount of the coverage. I think Prototype, GTLM, and GTD should get equal time at every race. |

If you think the best race was the Petit Le Mans I understand completely. Just thought it had too many cautions still at certain points.

I had some very personal "challenges" this year that compounded other portions of my hectic life and watched very little racing overall this year.
I was just happy to watch just about every minute of PLM by a fence, under a water oak, on a hill or in the T10 complex. It meant a lot to me this time. |

The review show from John, Jeremy, and Shea. It was a very good listen, they cover every team that ran in the series this year. |
