The S2000 Car Overview
Inspired by the '94 discussion I figured it would be nice to make a little overview of all S2000 cars that are available these days. For the series I've sticked to WTCC/STCC/DTC/Procar/BTCC, as those are the classes I'm familiar with. If you have additional information from the Finnish, Russian, Italian and Portuguese championships, please shout and I'll add. I've also included all national cars that ran with dispensations, like all the 3-door cars from the Danish Touringcar Championship.
Updated 29/11/2008 12:20 GMT
WTCC: World Touring Car Championship BTCC: British Touring Car Championship STCC: Swedish Touring Car Championship DTC: German Touring Car Championship RATA-SM: Finnish Touring Car Championship PTCC: Asian Touring Car Series This list is by no means complete or 100% correct. I've filled in the parts that I was pretty sure or very sure about. Pictures come from the websites of the Championships, Teams, or from my HD. In that last case I can't remember the source anymore, so my sincere apologies if you find a photo on there which is yours. Please let me know in that case and I can remove it or add the appropriate credits. Last edited by touringlegend; 29 Nov 2008 at 12:20. |

Argh, you always forget Maybe Johan can update the first post once in a while to keep it updated with all feedback? Quoting it is also an option, but from a scrolling point of view one list is a bit more relaxed perhaps

Not a problem - it's one of the more obscure ones as it appeared and disappeared rather frequently.

http://www.2004.motorracetime.de/gal...dpm1030204.jpg These Opel Astra were doing some guest starts in ADAC Procar (called DPM back then) in 2004. They're certainly no true S2000, but I'm not exactly sure what they are. They are developed by Kissling, and I think they were usually used on the Nordschleife. They were also driving in the ETCC field of Spa 2004, in the DPM Division (DPM cars joined the usual ETCC race back then). I also have pictures from the ETCC race (the silver one with a proper rearwing), not sure about copyrights though, as the pictures were taken by the official ETCC photographers. --- The Ford Focus are developed by Hotfiel Motorsport. There are also 2 versions of the Peugeot 307. One with two and one with four doors. Oh, and if anyone remembers Brilliance, did they ever have a S2000 prototype? I think Brilliance never came further than the Photoshop phase, at least not on pictures.

Another one :
http://www.racingimages.fi/photos/ta...linna07_17.jpg Has been driving in the Finnish series in 2007, probably a converted Super Production car, because such a yellow Skoda was also at the European Touring Car Cup 2005. http://fiaetcc.com/2k8/press/gallery...1687748&id=181 ----- They also had this Megane in Finnish Touring Cars 2006: http://www.racingimages.fi/photos/ju...jurva06_02.jpg |

There were a couple of S2000 Honda Civic Type-Rs in the 2004 BTCC, although I don't know how different they were to the JAS ones.

There was 2 very different types of Lexus IS200 used in the BTCC as well. The self-built SpeedEquipe/BTC Racing ones and Xero's ones converted from SP cars used in the Dutch Touring Car Championship.

there is also a brand new Honda Civic FD2 built out of Hong Kong. It was banned from the Macau WTCC race since its homologation papers hadn't cleared.

Bramzel, i salute you sir! A Wonderful thread!
I believe the two Civics in the BTCC in 2004, raced by John George (JAG - LPG powered) and also Richard Marsh (VARTA sponsored) were ex SP cars, certainly they were well off the pace. That E36 bmw is interesting, was it a supertourer downgraded? Can anyone shed some light? Simon |
