Okay folks, first we had the Snetterton Night Race of last year, then we added the 'Easterfest 2001' - both really great weekends and huge fun for everyone who was there... even if they were bloody knackering (and in the case of the last one, ridiculously expensive! )
However... which event do you think will go down alongside these two events in 10 Tenths folklore ? There's *plenty* of choice in 2001... the obligatory Snetterton and Silverstone BTCC night races, the Mini Festival at Mallory (really looking forward to that one myself and hope we can get a good crowd out!), the Snetterton Charity Day at the end of the year (which will be featuring a large number of beast driven by 10 Tenths regulars... excellent!) and, of course, the away trips to Knockhill, Mondello and Le Mans. What are *you* most looking forward to ? And which do you think will feature the best turnout by the 10 Tenths folks ? |

It has to be Le Mans for me, I can't wait.
However, large crowds will bound to be at the two night races, plus the Power Tour night race! |

Mini fest 2001 !
The Mini festival is being held at Mallory Park in Leicestershire, on the 12th of August. Mini7s, Mini Miglias, Supers and Mightys will be there.. It's going to be a blast, guaranteed.
If you can't wait that long for a Mini fix, see if you can get down to Castle Combe on the 7th of May (bank holiday Monday) for some Mighty Mini action! Myself - I'm looking forward to the night races, and the Snett charidee day. Hopefully I'll be taking some of you around, and I think we have a fair few other 10 Tenths drivers willing to scare you for a small donation to charity |

There comes a time when something special needs to be done if we are to surpass the feats of yesteryear... I have 2 suggestions:
Option 1: The 10-tenths holiday: Depart Thursday 7th June, Travel to Spa Fri 8th June: Testing Sat 9th/Sun 10th: Spa EuroRaces including The Clio V6 and some Minis I believe. Mon 11th: Gentle wander South from Spa Tues 12th: EuroDisney? Weds 13th: Gentle wander out to Le Mans Thurs 14th-Sun 17th:Le Mans 24HR Mon 18th: Home to UK The other suggestion is: The Ten-Tenths Track Day For what it will cost us to all pay to run at Snetterton for Charidee we could hire our own circuit... for example Bedford. Get all the UK based 10-tenths gang to bring their Chariots of Fear... and we could do it when the weather is good, maybe even a picnic (Invader: that means sitting down on the grass to drink the beer)and not freeze our ***** off at Snett. Whadddyathink RickP |

I think you'd only get most members here to come on holiday if you were paying, Rick
I do like the idea of the track day though - like a big corporate outing, but without the corporate bit. There are a few tracks dotted around the country that we could hire out for a day for not much money, and we get the place to ourselves! |

I like the idea of hiring a track and "Drive What Ya Brung" - it was great fun seeing some of our own members racing at Thruxton and I want my turn to ride in a Clio!
Having frozen my bippy last year at Snetterton, I'm not keen on that again. ( "I can't bet my bippy--I need it in my work!" ) I'm coming over for Goodwood Revival of course and we have some Panoz thingy here in Canada to attend at the end of September so Silverstone night race is probably out as well. But in any case I'll see y'all at Le Mans. 53 DAYS TO GO! Hurrah! |

I certainly second the vote for hiring a track for the day. I need to get a new car though - can't move quickly in a diesel!!!

My thought was based on the fact that if there was a group going to Le Mans, they could just stretch their crossing dates a touch and take advantage of some free camping at Spa...
Cost would be minimal... Like to point out that whilst I'd love to be there, I have to work! RickP |

We've got the Montreal GP the weekend before Le Mans. Hurrah for the organizers for finally separating the two!
52 days to go ... |

Sadly the Montreal GP is:
a) Not reacheable by minibus from Calais b) Not as exciting as watching Clio V6 and Minis at Spa c) Not really on the way to LeMans else I'm up for it... RickP |

I'm next after Woody. (Woody can clear the track of marbles, gravel and assorted wild animals before I climb aboard.)

Umm! my name was down last November but for you Woody I'll move down the list.
I think it's a brilliant idea. Nice warm day, picnic, few drinks, BBQ and time for a natter. Just not August please because hubby will be busy. |

What about the Llandow circuit for the track day idea?
It has just been re-opened, and would be quite cheep in comparison to other tracks. |

Mr. Vader - we bring the cars, with passenger seats fitted - you bring a spare pair of pants
Llandow is a good cheap circuit to hire, but it's miiiiiles away in deepest darkest Wales. They only reopened the circuit because someone installed the area's first telephone there. Dunno what this Bedford track is like (Rick?) but it sounds a bit more central.. |

Wales?
Wales? Bloody great fishes are Wales (to the tune of the Welsh national anthem) Ooops sorry, wrong forum, I'll repost in the chants/calls of war in the GravelTrap. Suffice to say I am not going there. Bedford is Jonathon Palmers Autodrome, big advantage is there are no crash barriers, so get it wrong and you just have to hold a 200metre opposite lock slide through the grass (no probs, I refer the honourable gents and ladies to the photographic evidence of the Clio rallying through a Silverstone gravel trap) Woody the wild animal huh? Scary... Well it sounds like a cunning plan. How we will ever get a day organised when none of us are racing/watching I don't know... let alone when we can get a circuit... We know someone who is good with trackdates, don't we viewers? Lorna... RickP PS Vader, thats an extra spare pair of pants in addition to your usual spare pair for you... |

Bedford : Bruntingthorpe
Not really similar words Vader... I guess both begin with a B and have "or" towards the end of them else... Both owned by Mr Palmer though... Only difference is one is in Bedford and one is in Bruntingthorpe. Notice Lorna hasn't piled on to volunteer to organise? RickP |
