Does Katja Poensgen have a ride for Brno?
I heard she left the dark dog team but was close to a deal with someone else for the rest of the year, anyone have any info?

She has tested a Yamaha for the Kurz Aral Yamaha team, but so far nothing has come of it. Aprilia are also trying to get her a ride, but no news on that either. Latest is that Jeff Hardwick of the Shell Advance team has offered a ride in 250 on an NSR from last year, but Katja would prefer to stay with an Aprilia. Makes sense, since it is very likely she will ride one next year. And with the disgusting way Hardwick treated Chris Walker, I for one would not want to ride for him.

Thanks Gerrit.
It says on her website that she has now signed with the shell team for this year and next, although I didn't see her name on the timesheets. |

According to Motor Sport Aktuell, the German/Swiss magazine, her first race on the NSR will be at Estoril. She will have to get used to a totally different bike, so I'm not holding my breath. Witteveen seems to want her on a semi-works Aprilia next year, I hope it will happen. She could have gotten one for the remainder of the season, but couldn't get the financial side sorted out so quickly.

Not only does she have a firm contract for the remainder of this season and for 2002, there is also an option for 2003 and 2004.
Remains to be seen what that contract is worth, look at the disgusting way Hardwick treated Walker. |

It would seem that she does not have an NSR, but an RS. Makes sense in that the team would have had to return the NSR at the end of the season; on the other hand, they could keep the RS since it is not a works bike.
