Simple, Scott Smart 2005 BSB Champ*
* Though, knowing my luck he'll either do a "Hizzy" or crash out first corner, first race and have to miss the season through injury. Last edited by Hazza; 22 Dec 2004 at 14:31. |

No Sendo then?
Great field by the looks of it, anyone want to predict the top 10? |

Prediction:
1 Rutter 2 Smart 3 Reynolds 4 Haydon 5 Kiyonari 6 Haslam 7 Richards 8 Harris 9 Hill 10 Emmett Very strong field overall though - I can see all five manufacturers winning races once again, with the title potentially wide open. |

Just picked up this news courtesy of crash.net http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_view...=18&nid=104263 Paul Bird is now saying that if he cannot get Shane Byrne back at Monstermob for 2005 then the next most likely option is Gregorio Lavilla. Although there is a possible undisclosed 3rd rider potentially ready to sign for the team. Things are looking good for BSB 2005.

My mistake. I've never heard them called anything other than Sendo.
Great grid in any case - Smart, Reynolds, Rutter and Haslam are all theoretically title challengers |

Crash.net today reports that the Stobart Honda team (formery Monstermob Ducati) have signed Jeremy Mcwilliams for the 2005/2006 seasons. http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_view...=18&nid=104876 - Good news if u ask me, hes a better class of rider than Byrne, and probably Lavilla these days too. A outsider for the BSB crown in 2005?

So how did Byrne match McWilliams in his first season in MotoGP then? How come it's Byrne who's getting an offer from Kenny Roberts (who knows how much McWilliams can, or rather could, do)?

McWilliams has been in Grand Prix racing for years and exactly what did he do? And not having the best equipment is not an excuse, he was there long enough that there is a reason he didn't have it......
As for the Stobart Honda Team, they've twice won the championship, but what hope do they have considering the factory Honda's plus Karl Harris' semi-factory machine. |

Well, consider the last time Paul Bird ran a team with an "old british fart" in it they came 2nd and 1st in two years. So either McWilliams will show us what he's got or fade away into retirement.

in Mcwillams defence, he did finish ahead of Bryne in the riders championship in 2004. Sure it was Byrnes first year, but he was on the factory bike, was Mcwilliams? And he beat Byrne by quite a margin, and really and truly I think Paul Bird knows whos best for his team, and as hes said Mcwillams was always his first choice...

Byrne missed a lot of races as the season went on though. The fact that he's got another chance at the top level should say something about how he performed.

You can make all the excuses u like, the facts are though that Mcwillams finished ahead in the points standings, and on a inferior bike too. It dosent matter how he finished there, and theres nothing to say that even if Byrne hadnt been injured during the season that he would have finished ahead of Mcwilliams in the points standings, and as Mcwilliams also said, hes been wanting to move back to BSB for a couple of years now.

As long as Byrne does get the KR ride, and the bike isn't a lemon, and McWilliams readjusts to Superbikes, and the team gets enough out of the biek to challenge the works Honda guys, everyone will win from where the Aprillia refugees have ended up. Unfortunately, that's a lot of eggs to go in the right basket.

I must admit I'm surprised by the choice of riders at Virgin Yamaha. From what i remember Emmett didn't have such a great time on the bike back in 2003 when he switched teams after his Ducati ride went bust. And Mason is an ok rider but he got beaten by Haydon in the final standings last year and he only came in after Plater got injured! If anyone should be on the R1 its Haydon, he won a race for them last year and has always, in my opinion anyway, been better on straight fours rather than twins. will be interesting to see how he does on the 999 this season.

HAHA pink, well just to say Mason isnt riding for Yamaha next year anyway and as for Sean i think you do him an injustice, he had no testing on the bike in 2002 when IFCwent bust and got two rostrums off the bat with it at Thruxton, beating Plater!
And as for Haydon, he did bring the bike along as Plater should have done but Steve had developed a bit of a crashing habit and as such never seems to be fit, in my opinion he certainly is not a rider who can bring a new bike along. Maybe James just has that bit more experience developing a bike. But it seems he has struggled a bit with the Duke and has crashed a few times already, i hope we dont see the old James as the new one was much better to watch! |
