Best Fuel FF1600
I was discussing the other day with a mate regarding the following fuels and which is best for a fford ?
LRP Super Unleaded Is LRP better than super unleaded ? maybe for my 20year old sierra but what about my race car ? Could someone clarify why one is better than the other please.....after all the discussions I discovered that the circuit garage had 4 star! |

What's wrong with BP Ultimate and what about putting millers additive with Optimax?

i used bp with a couple of other people one race weekend. 3 engines blew. i may be nothing to do with it, but it was strange as it was the first time we used it. told neil bold about it and he recalled something similar with someone else. maybe fine just dont like it myself.
as to the additive optimax is close to the optimun octane, i feel mixing can give you too much and cause problems plus it costs more. tiptop uses a ff kent engine. |

Lrp is not going to be as consistant as super unleaded as there is no pressure on the oil companies to keep standards up. I've had the valve seats done and use Optimax....it seems OK!

You should use the same fuel your tuner used when he set the engine up on the brake.
I think you'll find any fuel additives are illegal |

I watched a documentary once about how the fuel is distributed. All fuel companies use the same fuel. BP, Shell, Esso. They all fill tankers at the Shell plant in Ellesmere Port, it's only when a tanker is filled that they then add their own cocktail of additives. Some obviously more potent than others and some only formulated for multi-valve engines. Shell Optimax seems to be the preferred choice though. Miller's didn't seem to have any effect whatsoever.
Just a thought. |

Optimax
my engine builder swears by it, and its not as expensive or as difficult to source as the original 4 star I was driving miles to buy at £1/litre.
