Corner "Naming" For New Anglesey Layout

First of all - apologies but this thread will be a bit "Alien" to lots of non-North Western Marshals.........

Anglesey Circuit is supposedly being extended/reconfigured and obviously there will be some "New" corners/straights/hairpins etc.

I'm sure the owners have ideas for naming them - but if you had a say in the matter, what would you come up with - and why?

For starters I think there should be a "Peacocks" - after Richard Peacock, the owner of the Circuit. He's a decent bloke who looks after the Marshals.

Secondly - a "Dooleys" - after BRSCCNW Chairman Tom - again a Top fella who's championed the motor racing bit for thousands of years!

Over to you!

"Canon" as the more northern part of the new circuit will pass over the concrete foundations for the guns from when it was a military site.
(i've been and wandered up there, the new layout was all pegged out, its going to be very... erm.. scenic)

Not supposedly, as work has already commenced in areas that don't compromise the current activities and the contractors will have full access from 2nd October onwards.
Putting my pedantic head on. Richard Peacock is not the owner of the circuit. It is owned by the Bodorgan Estate. The good RP however has been the prime mover in firstly getting Anglesey up and running as an MSA and ACU circuit in 1997 and pushing the plans through for the four new circuits, which are due to open mid May 2007 :
Club 0.769 miles
National 1.18 miles
Coastal 1.506 miles
GP 2.019 miles
Only one current corner remains - and only on the National Circuit - and that is School Corner.
As for naming the new corners etc., I quite fancy "Diz's Dip" after a thoroughly decent bloke who goes there sometimes

i'm sure there's a point on the GP circuit that could be called cliff rise. And maybe Ocean Straight. Ireland Hairpin anyone?

Are there any plans online that we can have a peek at? I've seen the map on the wall in the bar, but something a little more substantial would be nice

More names for corners: Dafydd's Dip or Stumpy's Stomp, take your pick, and Arthur's Harrassment.

Drizzle bend
Grey straight
Puddle corner
windy rise
a chicane called "cats and dogs"
temperature dip
soggy straight
A double apex corner called "day". So that would be "day in", "day out".

New trendy paddock restaurant/bar called "Hypothermia".

The official track map to have the infield marked with "here there be dragons".

How about 'Thunderbird', as the site was used for test firing Thunderbird surface-to-air missiles in the 1960s - or 'Jindivik' after the target drones the Thunderbirds were supposed to hit? ('Viscount' would be too contentious!)

Anything but 'turn 1', 'turn 2', etc!

BTW, wensleydale, I think the word you're looking for is 'cannon'......unless they fired clergymen at passing targets!

I'm totally serious about Ireland Bend / Hairpin, can you imagine the commentators getting confused at which track they are at?!!!

Perhaps the first and last competitors to win races at the 'original' Anglesey should get a feature named after them.

I've been searching for pics/plans of the layout.

Anyone got a pointer?

Not quite sure how the word 'continues' got in there, but I'm sure one or two will slip through!

Seaside would be very popular with (or confusing to) the folks who've been over to Long Beach. Now all you need is a Rock Garden.

There are Rock Gardens at the moment at Anglesey especially when drivers cut the corners and bring all manner of rocks onto the circuit.

MSV already has two corners called Druids competitors just have to remember which is which.
