Lindblom and Watt looking at BTCC
Swede Jan Lindblom is seeking a BTCC drive next year. The Vauxhall STCC driver has been in talks with Vauxhall 888 and could test an Astra coupe soon. Meanwhile, Danish TC champion, Jason Watt, 80% paralysed after a motorcycle accident a few years ago is also looking at the BTCC and ETCC for next season. He said he'd like nothing more than taking dingle dell and the craner curves again. Although he hasn't ruled out staying with his peugeot team next year and competing in the STCC as convincing teams he can perform on a equal level as able-bodied drivers could be a problem.

Jason Watt, even in his current condition, is a better driver than 95% of the drivers currently involved in the btcc. you just have to look at his times when hr drove the Den Bla Avis Panoz in the FIA sportscar series to see that he still has the ability to drive well, he has the natural speed and racecraft to win in any series.
Also from a PR viewpoint, any team employing Jason would get a tremendous amount of publicity in the "mainstream" media, surely that has to be attractive to sponsors. Last edited by El_Gibleto; 4 Oct 2002 at 06:04. |
