Magneti Marelli MF4L

Hi team,

I have been tasked with tuning some Renault F4R motors using the Magneti Marelli MF4R.

There are a few questions on my mind:

1. I have a pinout and plan to make a harness to connect the ECU to the computer. When I have done so, how do I interface the two?

2. What is the communication protocol that the MF4R uses? Am I correct to assume CAN?

3. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Marelli's Vision software?

4. Are any third-party applications for Windows or Linux capable of doing the same task as the factory software?

If I am unsuccessful in tuning the ECU's using proprietary software I plan to do the following:

Remove the PLCC32 from the board and put a socket in its place. A DIP32 socket will also go into the space available.

Tune the ECU using an aftermarket application.

Any information on the questions above is great.

Thanks in advance,
Justin.
