Think about this though. We could all be off the hook here. Because after tomorrow night's Top Gear, all the envirofascists will hold Jeremy Clarkson singularly and wholly responsible for the melting of the polar ice cap.

Anyone know if it will be repeated? I'm working nights this week and as Jack has blown up the DVD recorder i have no way of taping (or would that be DVD'ing?) it

Not best ever ?! I don't think it conveyed just how hard it'd be or it was. Did Ranulph Hammond continue to the pole ? How did they get back home ? (If I went to the North Pole would I find ten huskey's and several Toyota Hilux's?).
No doubt the next scandal to hit the BBC will be they filmed it all in studio at Pinewood.

did Hammond make it? Did they drive/ride back home? Wasn't Hammond fit - to run/ski?
It was very funny especially the bit with the doctor but I did feel Clarkson was taking it all very off hand until the ice started cracking and then when they were in the ice boulders it really got to them. |

Yawn. All very predictable and all very staged.
Clarkson stamps his right foot in a fit of frustration and breaks the car - didn't see that coming. Oh no, we only have enough fuel for one more day - apart from what was being carried by the camera/support crew. If they were that short on fuel how did they get home. The dog sled seemed remarkable small with no room for any provisions - guess they were all carried by another off-camera support crew. |

It's turned into Brainiac for cars. Less explosions, but similarly pointless stunts. Lowest common denominator TV at its finest.
How long before some BBC watchdog or other look into how much these guys are spending...? |

i enjoyed the show, but being cynical kinda ruins it for me in the same way product placement has ruined most decent american export shows like heroes and friends and sex and the city and so on. i always end up looking for the lack of continuity rather than watching as an adventure.
(the g&ts and bumper dumper were brilliant though )

Throughout the programme they talk about going to the 'north pole'. They never mention that they're actually heading for the magnetic north pole which is in northern Canada. The route there, starting from northern Canada, is primarily over land. According to Wikipedia the MNP in 2005 should be at 82.7 degrees N (it moves about a bit and is currently moving towards the geographical NP). I think Clarkson & co start celebrating when their GPS shows 78 degrees N. Another example of the BBC conning us?
