Silly Season Thread For Drivers Whose Name Doesn't End In Earnhardt Jr.
Just a suggestion. Instead of starting a topic for every driver that makes a change or signs for a ride in Nascar why not put them all in one thread.
Starting with the strong rumor that Tony Stewart will leave JGR at season's end and sign with RCR. Seems like Tony is pretty unhappy with JGR and has a good relationship with RCR. RCR has not denied the rumor and in fact has stated that they have had some talks with Tony. |

I know that Tony Stewart will never drive a Toyota, so the RCR rumor doesn't surprise me at all.

isn't there some kind of problem for him with Toyota because his sprint car teams use chevrolet or something?
Or something along those lines... |

Yeah his sprint teams run Chevy engines and plan to continue that in the future. I've never really thought Tony would go along with the switch at JGR to Toyota. He has a pretty strong relationship with Kevin Harvicks Busch team and I imagine he would like to continue driving for them in the future and by way of that he has a connection at RCR. GM has also made it clear that they planned to being him back to the Chevy fold in the future.

Tony has a contract through 2008 with JGR, so RCR better be ready with a lot of money just to be able to sign him. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a Chevy next year instead of sticking with JGR and driving for Toyota. I also heard a rumor that he may replace Casey Mears at Hendrick. But who knows.

Fantastic news. We can do without such commentary gold as "you don't wanna push around Kevin (Harvick)."

I frankly find the others annoying who used to do the start of the year with the deep southern accents so couldn't understand them and that sounded close to redneck! and saying bogity bogity all the time. I much prefer the espn team, especially Rusty, he's great. As for the descirption of how slipstream works not everyone knows, just givin' an insight.

I like the ESPN team most too, but Rusty has begun to grate massively.
No problem with deep south accents either. It is, after all, NASCAR's origin. But as I say, ESPN is the better bet. Once you've heard boogity-boogity for the thousandth time you do yearn for something else. |

Quite frankly, Dale Jarrett has done a much better job in the ESPN booth than Rusty, and since he's not driving next year, the analyst's seat is all his.

Just read on Nascar.com Mayfield is replacing Jeff Green in the 66 immediately, and Johnny Benson and Mike Skinner will be sharing the 36 ride for the rest of the season.
Will BDR have 3 teams next year or 2? (27 replacing 36?) |

The biggest rumor of all.
Nascar may be put up for sale. Cupscene.com has reported that there may be a chink in the once impregnable armor of Nascar. This comes not long after the rumor that Brian France may be replaced by Jim France. Evidently Lehman Brothers has completed a study determining the value of Nascar and has prepared a prospectus for potential buyers. I wonder if there may be some validity to these recent troubling rumors. Anyone else have any rumors on the potential sale or othe troubles in Nascar. |

There is going to be a big announcement on Friday, according to FoxSports. It appears like bruton smith may be buying NHIS. This could be bad news for fans in the New England area as Bruton will probably take one of their races and move it to Las Vegas. Bruton has a history of buying tracks and moving their races to other tracks that he owns. |

I hope Nascar doesn't sell, I really don't like the franchise system.
