marshal_man should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Touring Cars - Thruxton

I will be there looking forward to catching up with all my m8s HV, Tom OC, Tayz, Ally, Jacko.

Good luck to them all in the racing.

I have a track pass so will be somewhere outback.

Who else is going to the events and do you have track passes??

I volunteered today, so assuming the want me, i'll be there. I'm planning on camping too - I assume that you can turn up on Friday night for that - what is the latest time (if any) that they will let you in? Can anybody give me suitable directions for the camp site?
No idea what pass(es) I will get.

Sorry Mark, the instructions don't have any information about camping . It's easy enough though - head for the main entrance, and it's at the top of the main drive on the right - I think it's labelled. If you get to a gate going on to the track you've gone too far! The nearest toilets are under the grandstand, and the showers are a while away in the paddock, so leave extra time for those!!

I don't think there's a problem with times, but Thruxton's not too far away so I've never turned up that late.....

Dee and I will be there on the Sunday only this time. I am sorry but there is the small matter of an English club trying to keep the English F A Cup from the grasp of a Welsh team Sadly i didn't manage to get tickets as i did for the semi, I love my motor sport but last time Pompey made it this far was 1939 so it might be a while before we do it again.

However back to Racing, I am looking forward to Thruxton it is always good to see the cars flat out round the back or equally good to see them 'rubbing' through the chicane and the complex.

Then on the monday it is off to Germany for us. Busy weekend coming up.

Camping details are as above. There is a large white sign saying "Marshals Campsite" so that is where you turn right off the main entrance road. The campsite is open all hours so late arrival isn't a problem, but as it's a big meeting there will probably be security at the very front entrance, so meet them, tell them where you want to get, and you'll soon be parked up and pitched.

As normal, I'll be the one making all the noise in pitlane - some things never change!!!!!! See you there for both days (Dan, understand the history bit, but they play with balls of the wrong shape!!!!!!! Rugby forever!).

Who? Me?

I am out the back again minding my own business!

Just heard from Trevor that he has 63 trainee marshals listed for this event. With 21 posts I make that 3 each!

Yes, but with time, we (assuming I'm one of them) will hopefully be end up being real marshals.

It is true how many of those 63 will we already know and think of as 'marshals' and how many will it be their first event.
Other than the 'Stand in the prescribes areas' and 'make yourselves look a little sparse' it can only be a good thing, and if we can convert some of them into clubbie fans too then we are all winners are we not??

I'm always worried about large numbers of trainees at BTCC events. How many are there because they want to marshal, and how many are there as a way of getting in for nowt? Still we have two days to convert any of the latter. I actually have a track pass for the first time in about 6 meetings, so it'll be interesting to see where I end up.

Can't speak for the others, but I'm there for both, as, I believe are most of the other 'trainees' I spoke to at Donington. In fact, if I *really* wanted to see the racing (and I've been an armchair touring cars fan for years), I wouldn't marshall again, as I spent most of my time last weekend looking at cars coming towards me, rather than the action going on past me.

Don't Know if you are aware but all of the VIM Recruitment has been done at the BTCC Meetings.
This has been done by Team Wilson who have done a tremendous job in recruitment.
So it works that most Trainees are Fans of the Touring Cars.
I know from the Trainees that i have introduced recently that it is not just the Touring Cars they are marshaling at.
Once we get them on to the bank ,the response and feedback i have had has always been very positive regards help and advice from others on post, They might get in for nowt but they are there as a Marshal, and under guidance of more experienced Marshal's.

We all have to start somewhere, and hopefully we can all help as much as possible with all Trainee's.

Well I am a new trainee and I will be there Sat&Sun with my mate, also a trainee Marshal. (We travel together, to help the costs etc.)
I and my mate are there for the sport and the marshaling.

As far as I'm concerned if it has an engine and races other things with engines then I love it!
Marshaling at the BTCC is a bonus as I am a fan of touring cars.

Anyhow if I was doing it to 'get in for free' because I'v failed miserably. Probans, waterproofs, boots, flask, etc etc. Would have been cheaper to buy the tickets!!

I did a test day last month, which was a mixed bag of everything and I loved it. Being a Marshal is great, actually being a part of the event as opposed to 'just' being a spectator.

I look forward to seeing and meeting some new people, and look forward to meeting them again at the forthcoming events I'm penned in for!

Oh and I dont have track pass!
