I fail to understand why in the current economic climate, any new circuit would get the go ahead to be honest ?

It's a temporary fix though.. France has a perfectly good race track which has worked just fine up until this point..

Bernie Ecclestone appears hellbent on F1 being a circus..With performers and a fairground as part of the show, how about competitive, affordable, sustainable racing ? A little of topic excuse me please...

I think Bernie's dream is to populate the world with new tracks no matter what it takes.

I've said it before and i'll say it again: Le Mans Bugatti.
Not the greatest track in the world but it: 1) Exists 2) Is up to MotoGP standards (which IMO is good enough for F1) 3) Its got history (the first ever motor racing Grand Prix was held at Le Mans in 1906). |

i've been to magny cours a couple of times, and there's nothing wrong with it in the same way there's nothing wrong with donington. if only they wouldn't mind building some hotels nearby and maybe investing in something to keep people going the whole year round then there wouldn't be a problem.
regarding le mans bugatti, it's rather like flying a helicopter around a toilet cubicle with world series cars, and the spectator facilities are shocking compared to magny cours. |

Can you fly a helicopter with a World Series car?
I'm not sure I understand the criticism of this proposed racing circuit, insofar as a lot of people have been happy to criticise Magny-Cours and a lot of people have been happy to criticise new venues in Asian states such as Bahrain and China. This new track won't have "history" from the off, but it will restore a European event to the F1 calendar with, presumably, a state-of-the-art track/facility. I've never had much of a problem with Magny-Cours. But if a new track in France provides us with something better, then I'm all in favour. Personally I can't see this scenario mirrored in the UK, where Silverstone seems to provide good racing and where Donington doesn't seem entirely essential - but that's another story for another time. |

Does this mean that plans for a Paris street circuit and/or Euro-Disney track have been scrapped? (Which can't be a bad thing...!)

I agree about a new track along the banks of the Seine..I am sure Disney Paris took a good look at the math and said I don't think so thank you very much..
Magny Cours was fine.. |
