'That's not the place for your first run in one of these cars.'
Mark Webber has concerns regarding rookies being on the same track during the new Friday practice layout for 2004.
Rookie 'third car' drivers will be allowed to join the action in Friday practice. Webber:'We could possibly see some very inexperienced drivers out there,' he said. 'Someone could be having their first run in a GP car. Read the article here: Rookie Practice I think Mark Webber is right to feel concerned - what do you think? |

There were first-timers on the track at the same time as Renault, Jaguar, Jordan and Minardi this year, but I suppose it could be worse this year, with up to 26 cars at a time, and the increased possibility of teams running local funded newcomers.
Still, they should be able to stay out of the way. If they block someone's laps, it obviously doesn't matter so much in practice, and the risk of collisisons is small - most drivers don't crash on their first ever run a car. |

These guys "should" all be talented enough to hold super-licences, so the "shouldn't" be a problem.
Kiesa and Baumgartner aren't exactly going to set the world on fire, but they caused no problems last year. |

agreed , they have to start somewhere dont they , why not in the pressure cooker of a GP weekend.
we will soon see if they can cut the mustard or not. Its not a problem I feel they are at the level where they should be knowing how to handle themselves in an F1 car. Im actually looking forward to the possibility of seeing 26 cars on the track again , brings back some good memories. |

Rookies on track on Fridays isn't really a big deal as Mark Webber thinks it is....once they have done a couple of laps they'll be up to speed, and there's every chance these induction laps will be done while they're being track sweepers for everyone else....so doubtful there will be too many cars around for them to bother with! |

Yes,they have to start somewhere.
Practice is an ideal place to learn what the 'real' drivers go like and what they expect from a newbe. |
