A true gentleman and class racer
Bill Elliot will not be voted as National Motor Sport Press's Most Popular Driver of the Year for 2001, an award he has won 15 times and the last 10 years running, because he has withdrawn his name from the ballot. Instead Elliot asked his legion of fans to vote for Dale Eanrhardt Sr. this year as the Intimidator never won this award.
"Dale Earnhardt never won this award. and I think it would be a tremendous honor for the Earnhardt family to receive it this year." I think it goes without saying why this man was voted most popular the last 10 years in a row. |

I agree. Not only it is a class move but a financial relief for residents of Dawsonville, Georgia who will have huge savings on their phone bill.
