Will TOYOTA ever return to IndyCar Series in the future?
TOYOTA RACING logo TRD logo For me yes because IndyCar Series needs another Japanese manufacturer to rival with Honda. I think TOYOTA still unfinished business in IndyCar Series because of TOYOTA wants to taste the twin-turbo V6 engine. As IndyCar Series confirmed a hybrid powerplant with 2.4-litre V6 twin-turbo engine, the TOYOTA H8909 V6TT hybrid engine that used in TS050 LMP1 car is suitable for IndyCar Series in the future. The sample of TOYOTA Indy V6TT engine that based on TS050 H8909 LMP1 engine. If TOYOTA wants to return to IndyCar Series in the future, TOYOTA must partnered with an inferior IndyCar Series teams like Carlin Racing and A.J. Foyt Racing as a beginning as a full-works partnership with TOYOTA. What do you think? |

Why must Toyota partner teams like Carlin and A.J. Foyt Enterprises?

I haven't heard any mention of Toyota as likely to return. My guess is that they are happy with running at the front in NASCAR and don't think that an Indycar program would give anywhere near the exposure per dollar invested that they are getting in NASCAR.

Roger Penske is talking about 2 manufactures who are interested in IndyCar. I can't see who these are? Toyota maybe?

Not sure if that was a joke.
So he talks about 2 additional manufactures. But yes, I also think we will stay with Honda and Chevy only. |

Last time I heard it discussed, Ford and Ferrari were mentioned as the most interested. I'm not holding my breath for Ferrari. Ford seems more likely but with Cosworth seemingly not at all interested in getting involved I have my doubts about Ford. Indycar is fortunate to have GM and Honda continuing.

Ferrari decided back in February they ''will not be entering IndyCar anytime soon.”

I'm not surprised to hear that Ford isn't interested for business reasons but wouldn't have thought the family would be against open wheel racing in general, given their history and the amount of exposure given the brand from decades of USAC, F1, CART, and Champ Car participation. |

Isn't IMSA not more logical for Toyota? Of course frist LMH cars need to be allowed in the series.

Interesting to see Audi, Hyundai, and Lamborghini mentioned by Roger Penske. Perhaps there is more widespread interest than I would have guessed.
