Your favourite Champcar track of all time

My favourite Champcar track of all time would have to be the original Long beach.

I know there is a few others that a few people would have felt that should have been on there like Toronto a few others but I wanted to try and narrow it down to 10.

Road America. Maybe it's because I've raced there, but I love that race course. Super fast.

unique street course with twists and turns...i love the hard braking and stuff....its a great time

fave memory : Servia and Tracy 2000....AWESOME move by servia at the corkscrew, just too bad he couldn't get it done

Out of those choices it's definitely Elkhart Lake, but Fontana is really my favorite!

This is a hard one but i picked Mid-Ohio.
I love the elevation changes at Mid-Ohio and the tight twisty bits, turn 1 is mad and it's one of the most physical demanding tracks in the champcar world series.

Too bad there not racing there this season.

I've been to Laguna, Road America and LBGP on a regular basis and nothing beats the electricity and TALENT at LBGP. So many cool spots to watch the race. Hot chicks and great race!!

I chose Road America, but I also like Laguna Seca, Mid-Ohio, St. Pete, Surfers Paradise, Cleveland, Mexico City, Montreal, Fontana and MIS.

Road America by a mile (well maybe 4 of them).

Cleveland and Michigan are both good but at RA you really see the cars and drivers performing.

Oh yeah, I also have to give props to Mexico City because it runs through a baseball stadium. Very unique and cool!

It used to be mega cool with the superfast right that was taken flat out before the baseball stadium was built althouh it is kind of cool.

I remember going to Fontana for the first race there and being utterly disappointed, not just in the fact that the smog was so thick you could cut it with a knife (we didn't really see the mountains until Year 2), but in the track itself. It was supposed to be Michigan's twin and it wasn't even close. Turns 3 and 4 were single-groove, and we found out the hard way that putting a wheel below the white line (or even on it) was a ticket to disaster because of the angle built in to the warmup lane below the line. (This is a feature of NASCAR tracks, but not Michigan, which was purpose-built for open-wheel.) Another Michigan feature much-missed at Fontana was the "rabbit hole", which provided a shortcut from under Victory Circle to the front straight stands. It was only open when no cars were running, and you had to know about it to use it, but it beat going all the way to the big tunnel and around to get to the trash and trinkets.

Funny how the small stuff is what you remember...

Looking at the results of the poll, I am not at all surprised that RA and Laguna are leading the way, but I am surprised that only one other person has voted MIS so far! And I didn't think that any street circuit would fare as well as LongBeach has.

Based on the numbers it's obvious there are more road course fans here than ovals........but hasn't anybody been to Portland...not a bad street track and much more fun to watch from other views than the bleachers.

NorCal, Portland's okay but it's too flat, IMO. It's only REALLY fun in the rain! I "play" there regularly so I obviously like it, but compared to other road courses it's a bit lacking.

One of the things it lacks is a way in and out of the infield in a vehicle while the track is hot!

I'd say I like both formats equally well, but it's hard for me to get overly excited by the format/layout of a oval because there are fewer features that distinguish them. Michigan and Milwaukee are my favorites. Nazereth was a cool track because it's layout is unique but only some of the races there were really good. That said Mid-Ohio has an interesting layout, but a lot of the races there haven't been all that good. Laguna has hosted some so-so races too. I like Elkhart because it's a wicked layout, passing a plenty, always a good race, long distance, great scenery.

Road America is the most interesting for me.......but you can't beat the atmosphere of indianapolis. It sends shivers down the spine just watching it, especially from older races before the CART/IRL split.
