Foyt Racing/ AJ IV
Why does Foyt racing have such a hard time getting sponsorship compared to Gnassi/Andretti/Penske? Why don't they get to test like Penske, Gnassi and Andretti? Foyt used to run 2 cars fulltime when the IRL started why not now? Why isn't there equipment as good as the big 3 when they run the same chassis and engine? Any word on where AJ IV will be racing next year?

AJ does things the "AJ Way" Which includes final say on set-ups, aero, etc...you see, he knows more than engineers, etc., and didn't even have an engineer until the middle of the 2005 season. |

Tim has got it in one.
sometimes you just need to spend that extra million or so (if you have it) to gain that extra performance and sadly AJ just doesnt seem to want an engineer or anything like that to make the gains |

AJ has finally handed over much of the control of the team to Larry for this season and hopefully we will see the team make more competetive decisions. He has somewhat indicated that he feels they need to be a 2-car team to compete so we may see a second car from them next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Anthony came back. His NASCAR career fizzled out this season when his team switched manufacturers. He didn't perform well either (although that might not be entirely his fault). The last I knew he was still under a development contract in NASCAR, but there hasn't been any news for a while. So my guess is that he is free to return to the IRL if he wants.
Hopefully Larry having greater influence over the team will be beneficial. AJ was stuck in his ways and it hurt the performance a lot. J.D. |

Anthony indicated at Chicagoland that he got bought out of his Evernham NASCAR contract.
Weak speculation places Buddy Rice in the second Foyt car. |

Why would they run 2 cars when they can barely get one going?

2 reasons - first is more test data, remember, Vision was a 1 car team in '05 year and could barely get going, this year they expanded with an experienced driver and are almost as good as AGR.
second is money - Bucknum appears to be bringing money from this Investment Properties company, that could fund his car while the ABC Supply money could be used to fund the second car. |

If it is a Foyt driving one of the cars then it definately makes sense to run a second car - I doubt the team would charge AJ or Larry as much as they would an outsider & that team can hardly rely on prize money for the profit margin.

This brief Item was in today's Indy Star:
"A.J. Foyt Racing will run only one car next season in the Indy Racing League, and officials are looking at a pool of drivers that includes Darren Manning, Tomas Enge and Townsend Bell. Jeff Bucknum was the team's driver this past season." I guess Foyt won't run two cars next season... |

Hope they have more money than they had last summer, because they would have to buy new chassis to compete in CCWS.... I'm not sure if I understand why they would do that when they have four Dallaras bought and paid for in their garages now... You alluded to this as a plea for "TonyBux"....It might be exactly that... Who knows??? But if it comes down to brass tacks, they will take whatever the best deal is for their future and more important, what they can afford, since they are not a high roller team in the funding area.... In the latter scenario, there is about $600,000 difference between buying new DP-01s and racing the Dallaras that you've already paid for, isn't there? |

Good news, and I hope Manning being their driver and Larry Foyt being appointed team director will mean an increase in performance from the team.

Good news; well let me say that, compared to last year, it seems to me that driver recruitment has started a lot earlier; it's positive cos it could leave a bit more room for possible new entries.

Does AJ IV still have a chance for a ride next season with Foyt or with anyone else?

he has a chance, especially for the 500
I wouldn't consider him a leading candidate for anything though. |
