Even if Kimi Raikkonen wins Fernando Alonso only needs to finish third at Interlagos this weekend to become the youngest world champion in the sport’s history.

Raikkonen deserves to win it. He came so close in 2003 and this year the only thing stoping him is his bad luck and Alonso's good luck.

From Eurosport

NEW ENGINES FOR:
Rubens Barrichello (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Renault), Mark Webber (Williams), Antonio Pizzonia (Williams), Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren), Felipe Massa (Sauber), David Coulthard (Red Bull), Christian Klien (Red Bull), Jarno Trulli (Toyota), Tiago Monteiro (Jordan), Michael Schumacher (Ferrari), Takuma Sato (BAR), Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault), Juan Pablo Montoya (McLaren)

Um... I suspect that might include those scheduled for a new engine (i.e. their last one has done two races).

Either that or someone's been putting sand in the oil...

That was a pretty stunning lap from Wurz. 3 tenths off the lap record. BAR looking pretty strong so far. Their main problem has been race pace though.

BAR are usually slow in practice so they should be very fast in qualifying and the race.

Sato has a ten position penalty for crashing into Michael Schumacher at the Belgian Grand Prix so I hope he dosn't put down a lap in Qualifying. He should just put alot of fuel in his car and start from the back.

That used ot be the strategy, but it was BAR (ironically) who proved that the msot competitive route is usually to run a normal fuel load, so as to start midfield with a fast car.

Brazil always has close times, it's not one of the longest tracks. Last year Baumgartner was putting in times in practice that would have put him on pole in 2003.

No runshaw, Alonsos title, if indeed he wins it, is purely down to luck.
