Richie Hearn on pole
Good for Hearn. He is one of the nicer guys in the paddock, IMO. Hopefully he will have a good race and a full time ride in 2004.

some other points of note.
Good effort by Giaffone on his return to the series after his injuries. Schekter also has done well to outqualify Dixon Kenny Brack the quite achiever this year (but I did expect more from him) Robbie Buhl deffinately benefitting for Gen IV power , great to see Ed Carpenter , not a bad effort first time in the series. and this should be a great race I certainly hope so anyway |

nice to see Scheckter back at the front, Dixon has been making him look silly ever since about Texas. And Hearn....brilliant, if he wins I'll be doing backflips, first since 1996 I believe

I said in another thread that Hearn could be a dark horse in this race...he's been fast all weekend. Hope he has a good race tommorow

Superb pole form Richie, but I hope this isn't used against Meira or Jacques Lazier, either of whom could have qualified well.
The Cosworth is clearly pushing some mediocre drivers up the grid, Ed Carpenter did pretty well for a debutant though. All the same it's good to see a real mix of machinery. Not sure why Penske are so off-colour this weekend, and Kelley are really off-form. Cheever's got what he deserves by having Barron midfield - clearly he hasn't adjusted to the Cosworth, and Rice would've surely got a better result. Giaffone is definately the star of the proceedings, returning with a superb effort. Hoppefully he can prove his worth for a 2004 full-season ride, as can Hearn and Barron. |

Kenny Brack's well up - and I notice he's reasonably high in the championship.
How did that happen? He's been pretty well anonymous all year. |
