Twin peaks raceway
My latest track: Twin Peak raceway.
It is named for the 2 hills you climb when driving a lap around the track. Let's imagine to do so. The first corner you will encounter is the hairpin. A classic overtakingspot. When exiting the hairpin the track goes downhill to the lowest point of the track, through 3 corners (2 and the paddock esses) that each are a bit tighter compared with the previous corner. Mess up one of them, and you will lose time driving through the next ones. After exiting the esses you cross a small bridge and accelerate through the lakeside corners. They are very fast, maybe full throttle in a high-downforce car. A straightaway along the coast of a small lake will take you to the next overtakingspot, 'the ascent. It is very important to get your exit right, because the corner marks the start of a long climb through the fast corner 8, the kink at the eastern tunnel al the way to turn 10, Forest Hill. Forest Hill is a corner where differences can be made. The entrance is fast, but not straight because of the kink at 9. Then there is the elevation; the track goes uphill at the entrance, but flattens out mid-corner and when you exit the corner, you are going down already. The elevation as well as the forest that is very near the track here, and since it is quite a long corner, you can't see it through the whole way. As a bonus you have to really think of turn 11 when you exit turn 10, because it follows directly after 10. A small downhill after 10 leads to the 3 'arena-corners' the slowest technical corners of the track. Lots of spectators can have a nice view of the drivers negotiating the turns. Then the drivers cross another small bridge, go uphill through corner 15 to another highlight of the track; panorama corner. It is a banked corner, and uphill al the way, until just at the end, where it crests. Th stands at the outside are at the top of the hill giving a great view of 6 corners from the Arena to the last kink at 17. Last edited by werner; 10 Feb 2012 at 13:18. |

I like the concept, it has nice flow.
The only comment is that it has only 2 clear overtaking place at the T1 Hairpin and The Ascent. One more than some circuits - but in this case both are in the first half of the lap. Perhaps have the run from T11 into the arena section a little longer to make this a better overtaking chance. |
