Audi did not really improve during the 2nd session. Strange. I hope they can match Mercedes during qualifying.

The gap isn't that big. And typically Mercedes always qualify well, Audi usually make up for it in race pace.

I expect Alesi will do his usual trick of turning up for round 1, winning it and then dissapearing in a sea of mistakes and mediocrity for the rest of the season. Although I hope not!

Glad to see Mika improved amongst the ranks!
Spengler as usual looks bloody impressive, even more so look what he can do in the '06 c class. Timo Scheider in doing ok I guess, and its only practice. Is anyone else here hoping for besides Mika, a Jamie Green win to take over Paffett? i think he can. And what happened to McNish this year? Is he doing ALMS? |

Not terribly fussed, although I tend to lean towards Hakkinen.

McNish not too bothered, with the new A10 to drive, and all in all not a thrilling season last year.
(Also Abt's budget could hardly stretch to Ekstrom, Kristensen, Frentzen & McNish now could it!) Scheider is driving a year old A4 run by the Rosberg team, not Abt or Joest (elsewhere) so not really expected to be a front runner. Though I could try and use the same excuse for Alesi, who's in a year old C-Klasse run by Persson...hmmm. I don't think Green's quite up to Paffett's standard yet...I'm expecting more from Spengler now he's got a year of practice in and new machinery. All to be seen. |

Nice qualifying result for Green, I wasnt sure that he was going to take pole for a while there but he pulled a quick lap out of the bag. Also good to see Stoddart doing well and qualifying 17th, thats very good IMO considering she is running a 2004 spec car. Tommorow is looking good.

All cars that dropped out in session two were faster than Mika's final lap time. Little strange.

The session was not good for the Ex-F1 drivers, Hakkinen qualified 7th with Frentzen right behind him, while Alesi was just 16th. Very disappointing.

Audi needs to do something in it's team, as Kristensen and Frentzen are on the verge of war. Frentzen troubled Kristensen's fast lap in quali, and Kristensen rewarded that by giving him a sideswipe while overtaking him.

Feel sorry for Jamie Green although he always does seem to have a problem with race starts. Do we think its nerves or just bad luck?

IMO it was a boring race.
ITR needs to do extra their best in the search for a 3rd manufacturer. Margarites performed very well. |
