Neville Crichton

Interesting article in last weekend’s The Australian Financial Review, about Neville Crichton, car dealer, yachtsman and car racer.

In the article he mentions racing with Brock at Spa in 1987, during the crystal and polirazer era.

I can remember his name popping up the 80’s and looking at his Wikipedia page, he seemed to be a reasonable steerer.

To get a drive with JPS or Dick Johnson, no doubt have to bring some dollars in, but also reasonable driving ability.

I thought he did some driving with Brock in the BMW or Sierra at one stage.

Croaky could drive and drove with the JPS Team, DJR and the Volvo Dealer Team in Australia.

But probably best not to ask Larry Perkins for a reference.

Forda should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Some trophies are for motor sport.
He raced with Peter “Perfect” Brock in that weird period where Brock was touting the power of crystals and Energy Polarizers.
Brock had rung in frantic excitement at 11.30 one night to tell Crichton how to save millions of dollars.
“He was absolutely, totally convinced that by putting his crystals in the cars I sold, that would do away with all the warranty problems.
”They shared a car in the Spa 24 Hour in Belgium in 1987.

Crichton watched in bemusement as Brock lay on a massage table while his business partner Dr Eric Dowker swung crystals over his body.
The mechanics had the same treatment and so did the race car.
“It didn’t do the car much good, we blew it up at about two in the morning.”

According to DJ, Croaky still owes him for the car 18 drive at Bathurst in 1987 . . . Nev crashed with LP on the first lap IIRC.

Nev drove for TWR's Rover squad once or twice in '86 too.
