Road America Race thread (includes RACE spoliers)
Sure its a few weeks away, but I think it deserves its own build up.
Its been greatly missed, lets hope fans turn out in away of thanking KK for bringing back the race and listening to the fans... |

So Bourdais is yet to win there and Tracy has only won once. I thought Maybe Vasser would have won there in all his years...

Montoya should have had two wins. Damn you gearboxes!
Honestly, can anything beat an onboard camera with a (especially late 90's) Champcar throttling round Road America? Oh I can't wait for this! |

Provisonal qualifying ::
1. Dan Clarke CTE-HVM 1:55.123 2. Charles Zwolsman Conquest 1:55.599 + 0.476 3. Alex Tagliani Team Australia 1:57.517 + 2.394 4. AJ Allmendinger Forsythe 1:58.507 + 3.384 5. Sebastien Bourdais Newman/Haas 1:58.945 + 3.822 6. Justin Wilson RuSPORT 1:59.076 + 3.953 7. Will Power Team Australia 1:59.286 + 4.163 8. Katherine Legge PKV 1:59.388 + 4.265 9. Andrew Ranger Conquest 1:59.486 + 4.313 10. Bruno Junqueira Newman/Haas 1:59.977 + 4.854 11. Paul Tracy Forsythe 2:00.165 + 5.042 12. Jan Heylen Dale Coyne 2:00.835 + 5.712 13. Oriol Servia PKV 2:01.082 + 5.959 14. Tonis Kasemets Rocketsports 2:01.381 + 6.258 15. Mario Dominguez Rocketsports 2:01.582 + 6.759 16. Nelson Philippe CTE-HVM 2:02.273 + 7.150 17. Juan Caceras Dale Coyne 2:03.690 + 8.567 So Dan has atleast 2nd for the race as he is assured a front row start. Him and Charles went out on slicks at the end of the wet Friday qualifying session and shocked the Champ Car scene you could say. I certainly am. Last edited by luke; 22 Sep 2006 at 20:40. |

Clarke, Zwolsman & Tags top three! Well, well done all three I guess...could be fun.
Tagliani, top here before of course, could be a threat for the win this weekend (Boom, crash, turn one) |

I'm very surprised that neither Al Unser Jr. nor Rick Mears won at Road America; those two must have finished second there a few times each.
It must be wet from the times, but JEEZ, the top two are half a second apart, and then it's TWO SECONDS back to third. |

This maybe of interest. Robbie Buhl was spotted looking closely with other D & R guys at the DP 01 on display from Champ Car officials. The ex CART racer from the pre split days mostly owns D & R now.
Also most of you are probably aware; Scott Sharp was at the DP 01 test at Sebring... Adam Carrol was also seen at Road America... |

One of the dale coyne cars was badly blocking Wilson on the warming up lap for the 3rd session when coming out of the pits. Stupid, and uncalled for.

Grid needs checking...Champcar's posting something different. Most of day one's times will count towards the grid.

have the rules changed ???
the way it usually works is only the fast man from yesterday (Dan Clarke in this case) is guarenteed a spot on the front row , but everyone else is battling it out for grid spots today , it doesnt matter what happened yesterday does it ?? thast what usually happens , Im confused now LOL |

It has never happened that way...
Your fast times from the previous day don't get canceled if you leave the pits on Saturday afternoon.. |
