it was dissapointing that DSC was there and did not release a full-body shot... the front of the car does look to have a totally different look about it, with some sort of raised front incorporating the already unique design elements of the Lister LMP.
what was interesting to me was that the car had air induction inlets for the engine both above the driver as on the original car, and in the now common area for hybrids in the "passenger" headrest. i wonder whats going on there... (maybe the bodywork for the driver headrest wasn't completed at the time of the pictures?) |

That would be bacause Lister didn't want one released just yet. Plenty of clues as to the overall look though

after looking further at the pictures we have, there are further clues I have noticed that do indeed give a general idea of what the car will look like. one such clue is the vertical strake down the center of the front of the car (to what i'm guessing is a raised nose surrounding the foot-box), as well as the extension of the bodywork to the sides of the rear pontoon fenders. very interesting approach from Lister; who would have thought they could have created a car even more radical than the original Lister LMP?? |

IIRC this car was tested in 92, or was this an updated EVO2 that tested in 92?

The Evo 2, the car in the image above (it wasn't called the EVO III) was tested at Magny Cours in '92 (check the entry list for Magny that year, the cars are listed as spares--beleive they practiced but they didn't race). So very little is actually known about the car, it is quite a shame as it is very interesting.

On a side note, why don't you see faired-in wheels any more? Have they been banned? they used to be quite common on Group C cars.

The 905B didn't have the enclosed wheels but this unraced car did. Theres details about the car in the 1992 World Sportscar Racing annual. It was apparently much lighter than the 905B and produced more downforce. BTW, why do we not see front wings like these any longer, are they banned? Lister appears to have gone the furthest with regads to a front wing type set-up. Surley a high downforce set-up is a bigger priority than low drag these days. |

Getting back to the subject at hand (Lister Hybrid) finally had a look a the images over at DSC(its back on line). The front "wing" is more a front suspension cover ala Bentley LMGTP. Wings are highly regulated, at least the traditional ones (official definition being something along the lines of two non parallal arcs that meet at a leading edge and close at a trailing edge--its in the rule book which isn't in front of me at the time). Of course the "traditional" wings are pretty efficient as opposed to dive planes (call them non-traditional if you will). Anyhow, it would appear that structure extending from the nose on the Lister to the front fender is meerly a cover similar to what Bentley did with the last LMGTP. Though similar in ideology only, from the rest of the images it appears once again Lister has a very unique and intersting prototype. Can't wait to see the whole thing.

I spoke to Fiona Pearce at Spa last week and she said that it is unlikely we will see the car, in full, until it is unloaded from the transporter at Silverstone LMES. She doubts that the team will have time to paint it up either
