Dropped Scores

Dropped scores are a feature of many national championships, but I don't really see the point in them! With the organisers desperate to improve grid numbers, competitors competing for the full season are not being encouraged to race in the final rounds of the championship if they have been consistent all year. All it does is allow drivers who have hit problems or missed rounds to catch up. They are also a mathmatical nightmare come the final round of the season!! Does anyone else prefer championships that don't include dropped scoring???....

It would be easier for me if there were no dropped scores, but I think they're a good idea. Otherwise if you miss a couple of races you might take the view that it isn't bothering for the rest of the year.

It doesn't encourage drivers to come to every meeting. But it may encourage those that have had a bad round or who have missed an early one to stick with the championship?

or those who have been disqualified unfairly from one round, or those who are consistent (which is just as important as raw speed surely), or...

well, the list goes on. it's just not right, is it?

If you get disqualified - you can't drop that score. That's intentional.

I think it's fair - if you miss a round or something goes badly wrong, you can make it up. Sure it's a pain mathematically, but it can save your championship.
