Edmonton should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Single Engine

A while back Brock Yates suggested for cart that they have one engine but have manufactures. This would mean you would have a similar set up like this year and manufactures would be able to badge their name on the engine. This seems like a neat idea-it would have much lower costs and could perhaps encourage more manufactures to enter the series since they wouldn't have to spend huge sums of money on the development programs they would have if they had different engines for each comapny. What do you think?

Never happen. Manufacturers like to have control over thier own destiny when they enter a series and if they all had the same engine it's a total **** shoot.

Honda and Toyota may like it because they could possibly pick and choose their teams-something cart never really allowed them to do.

I presume you mean "one engine but have different manufactures"? I don't get it. What would be the point? Whose design would they be supposed to use? What would the manufacturers be expected to get out of it? :confused:

Although I don't like the idea I believe the point was to continue to have Ford(for example) keep producing the Cosworth engine but badge some as Ford, some as Jaguar, some as Lincoln, some as Mazda,etc. That would make sense I guess, It's kind of like the Nascar boys arguing which engine is better the Chevy or the Pontiac.

Very stupid. Everyone would know that the engines were the same and it would provide none of the reasons companies get involved in racing.

It would be different if each manufacturer had a "starter" engine that they could only change in certain ways. For instance the 3.0L V6 Ford put in the Taurus is also in the Mazda 6S and Lincolns, not to mention the Aston Martin 6L V12 started it's design life as two of those V6s. Mazda's engine is a lot different than Ford's, but uses the same block.

The manufacturers wouldn't go for it.

If one manufacturer picked what turned out to be a dud team, they wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. Also, how could the manufacturer who's team was dominating advertise that they had anything to do with helping them win?

One thing I wouldn't mind is to see Ford badge a few of the engines as their other brands, for eg Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar etc, but I know this won't happen for many reasons (and as a huge Blue Oval fan, I quite like the current prospect of Ford winning every race )

Imagine PT winning a race in a Volvo powered car...hehe
