Peter.S should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Good news
The BTCC 2000 review on DVD is on the shelfs at most DVD outlets. Prices vary from £16.99 to £19.99.
If you are not in a hurry, try http://www.play247.com and get it for £14.99 post free. Delivery normally within 24hrs.
I am waiting for mine.
I hope there will be some added footage...

Got a question Peter.
I know your into Photography and I am planning to buy a camera that has a zoom function for under £80 to take to BTCC meetings with me. Would you recommend any makes of cameras that are the best at taking the BTCC cars. Thanks.

Re DVD - I'm not as modern as that yet - I'll need to replace all my BTCC videos with DVDs someday. There will probably be a VHS to DVD recorder coming out in a few years anyway.

For £80 I would look at the second hand cameras.
I have a Canon av1 SLR (20 yrs old) which is manual fous but auto exposure with a 200mm zoom. Used with 400 asa film gives good pictures.

For the money you want to spend, your bset bet is to buy a second hand 35mm camera. Make and model is purely personal (the main makes will be CANON, NIKON, OLYMPUS, to name a few.) You will have to buy a seperate lens for this camera as most come with a 'standard' 50mm lens.
If you intend to take shots of the cars on circuit then you will need from 135mm upto a 500mm lens, dependig on which circuit you are at. Brands Hatch you can use a 135mm lens, but at Silverstone you will need a bigger lens.
In my opinion it's the lens that makes a big difference to you pictures.
As for film, if your taking prints then use a good quality branded film. The popular brand is Fuji. They make a blinding 400asa film which is as good as some brands 100asa film. Fuji also make a very good 800asa film.
The other option is to by one of these new all singing and dancing new models these will do everthing for you all you do is 'point and shoot'. But I'm not sure you will get one for the money you want to spend.
Take a visit to a good, well stocked shop of both new and second hand cameras and see whats avaliable.

Happy hunting.

Let me know what you decide.

PS.

DVD Has landed

Hmmm a very nice jiffy from Duke landed on my doorstep this morning containing the 2000 dvd and I must say its was worth every penny !

Picture quality is superb, menus are great, all the Rounds are split up into Grid position, race, results and championship standings + the added bonus of some very nice circuit maps, and a cool in car lap from James Thomson at knockhill, there’s some driver info and a list of all the BTCC championship winners J really cool highly recommended, go buy it !!!

Great fun can be had by all watching a ford being taken out by a Vectra in ultra slow motion…

I think the potential for motorsport on DVD is huge. It would be great if you could use the "angle" button on the controller to change cameras during a race etc.

Also if they could include (in a seperate menu section) things like stats, on-board driver laps for every circuit, telemetry data, that would be so cool.

TIM LAD

If you like the in-car footage.
Take a look at BTCC IN-CAR EXPERIENCE Volumes 1 & 2 avaliable from Duke Video. It covers BTCC from 1994 - 1996.
Total in-car footage.

2000 dvd

Cheers for that! I tend to ask stupid questions but being female I reckon I can get away with it!! Seriously though I love touring cars and I was lucky enough to cover the last two races last year for the regular guy who I keep in touch with and I had this printed in the ten tenths motorsport report - this was amazing for me and I fully intend to keep up this year. I managed to get the DVD pretty quickly and have been watching it non stop for 2 days now (except to stop to watch David on the GP!)...going to the British GP this year again though - does anyone ever meet up from you lot - I guess I'm near one of you that lives in Ayrshire???

I really enjoy the chatroom - keep up the good work. Incidentally how can I join in the Fantasy Btcc comp you all are in???

I'm only new here (10-Tenths) since December so I haven't met up with anyone.
