I believe so. I remember seeing that pic at the time. It might have been made beautiful, but it certainly wasn't when this pic was taken! (IMO!)

i was lotus-s4 from supercars.net i figure if porsche continued their le mans program from 98 onwards, im sure that porsche would have hired joest to run it for them. leaving audi with who knows. i feel that joest has been a major part of audis success and without joest racing, the audi program may have been a very different story. lm |

Unless Porsche immediately continued from 1998, Joest would have been Audi anyway, Audi started their program in 1999 with the R8R ran by Joest....The thing is though, most of the time Joest is running the customer car, usually not direct factory development effort. In Audi's case Joest involved from the beginning of the development, with the first race being 1999 Sebring, the program probably went even further back.

The black painting is a little bit sad, and the car was under developpement... what a shame it didn't go to the end... not sure it could have beat Audi, but certainly a good challeger indeed... Any news of the car now ? The projects ? |

Bob Wollek was speaking about it with tears in his voice, because it could have been the car for him to win Le Mans

Well you tend to look through your own car with rosy-glasses on, since you have no comparison.....
I've heard that some aspect of the LMP ended up in the Carrera GT.... |

That's true, the 5.5L V10 engine in the Carrera GT comes from the LMP.

The Ferrari F50 also has push-rod rear suspension, as I assume the F60 does. The Porsche website has to get their facts straight.
That said, road cars generally have shorter wishbones, even if they are push-rod type, as they have to provide room for luggage etc. This was the problem with the F50GT when compared (for instance) with the CLK-GTR. One was a road car, the other a race car. I suspect the Carrera GT has road-car dimensions compared to the LMP. |

Well, there were rumours that Porsche would join the DTM, of all thing, presumably with a 911. I hope they build a new prototype, myself, and hire Yannick Dalmas and Sascha Maassen.
