To resize my pics, I simply use Paint, to a 400x400 size... and save it under jpg format...

I believe so. I remember seeing that pic at the time. It might have been made beautiful, but it certainly wasn't when this pic was taken! (IMO!)

racing maniac,

i was lotus-s4 from supercars.net

i figure if porsche continued their le mans program from 98 onwards, im sure that porsche would have hired joest to run it for them. leaving audi with who knows. i feel that joest has been a major part of audis success and without joest racing, the audi program may have been a very different story.

Unless Porsche immediately continued from 1998, Joest would have been Audi anyway, Audi started their program in 1999 with the R8R ran by Joest....The thing is though, most of the time Joest is running the customer car, usually not direct factory development effort. In Audi's case Joest involved from the beginning of the development, with the first race being 1999 Sebring, the program probably went even further back.

The black painting is a little bit sad, and the car was under developpement... what a shame it didn't go to the end... not sure it could have beat Audi, but certainly a good challeger indeed...

Any news of the car now ? The projects ?

Bob Wollek was speaking about it with tears in his voice, because it could have been the car for him to win Le Mans

Well you tend to look through your own car with rosy-glasses on, since you have no comparison.....

I've heard that some aspect of the LMP ended up in the Carrera GT....

That's true, the 5.5L V10 engine in the Carrera GT comes from the LMP.

I believe that a subframe (I forget if it's front or rear, or both...) was used from the prototype. Perhaps some suspension designs are the same, but obviously beefed up for the road.

Quote:
An exclusive for a road car: pushrods on the rear axle. They allow positioning of struts on the transmission, and permit fine-tuning of the chassis as well as aerodynamically advantageous air ducting in the engine, transmission and rear axle area. - Porsche website
Hmm, I would assume that it's the rear-end that's LMP based...

The Ferrari F50 also has push-rod rear suspension, as I assume the F60 does. The Porsche website has to get their facts straight.

That said, road cars generally have shorter wishbones, even if they are push-rod type, as they have to provide room for luggage etc. This was the problem with the F50GT when compared (for instance) with the CLK-GTR. One was a road car, the other a race car. I suspect the Carrera GT has road-car dimensions compared to the LMP.

Its reported in Autosport that Porsche will unveil the new Carrera Gt car in March, with the completion of this project the factory competion dept will start on a 'new, soon to be annouced project'
Ideas anyone?

i heard they had plans to make a cart engine, but the cart series now has become a ford powered series. id say that they have no interest in f1, as it seem that porsche and ferrari have some sort of unofficial arrangement stay out of each others face's. I cant really see porsche putting huge factory efforts into making a factory carrera GTS effort at le mans. it seems if porsche atempts le mans, they go for the overall win, which seems almost impossible in a gts car.

i would put my money on a brand new GTP for 04 when the new rules come out OR a customer carrera GT.

Well, there were rumours that Porsche would join the DTM, of all thing, presumably with a 911. I hope they build a new prototype, myself, and hire Yannick Dalmas and Sascha Maassen.
