Teams and Engines 2006
Anyone know if there are any plans for any new teams in 2006:
Confirmed Entries: Midland F1 (Take over from Jordan) Unconfirmed Entries: Dabai F1??? (They confirmed they had plans to enter F1) Arden F1??? Honda??? (If Honda buy out BAR they will have their own team on the grid) BMW??? (If BMW buy out Sauber will have their own team on the grid) Dallara (If they enter F1 with there own team but very unlickly) There will probably be 10 or 11 teams on the grid next year. |

Here is how it most likely will look next year.
Renault Minardi Renault Mclaren-Mercedes Dabai-Mercedes (thats if the team actualy makes it to the 2006 grid) Ferrari Midland-Ferrari or Toyota (most likely Ferrari) Williams-BMW Sauber-BMW Honda Red Bull-Honda Toyota If Ferrari suply Midland in 2006 and everything is like the above then Toyota will be the only engine manufacture suplying one team unless maybe if there is an new team besides Dabai. I can't see Cosworth NOT in F1 next year. I doubt if Minardi will get an engine supply, unless it is thru a deal with Renault, getting Montagny or Kovaleinen.

It's Dubai - and it remains to be seen what stage that project is at Arden won't be in F1 now with Christian at Red Bull Honda may increase their stake in BAR, yes BMW won't be buying Sauber - at least not next year - that's a customer deal Dallara is building cars for Midland. Anyway, Dallara makes cars, it doesn't run racing teams |

No, Dallara have never had their own team. That was Scuderia Italia. |

Right KB, and I think such a possibility is absolutely out of reality.

Will the Midland cars be badged as Dallaras (ie Midland F1 Dallara-Toyotas, or whatever), or will Dallara build them to be branded as Midlands?

Well, Cosworth have built pretty good V8s in the past.

I think the BAR name will live on for at least one year after this one. Red Bull getting Hondas and Midland getting Ferraris seem likely, with Sauber-BMW confirmed and Dubai known to be linked to McLaren-Mercedes. Will only supplying one team be good or bad for Toyota?

Dubai are practically guarenteed Mercedes engines seems as McLaren are their consultants on some strange level. The chances of this team appearing next season is slim to none, it doesn't exsist beyond a press release and was probably just a vanity project for some rich tycoon who is now bored of the idea.

Don't be so sure Midland will use Ferrari power - a lot of noises from Carlin and Kolles say they may wish to stay Toyota runners.

From what I gather the Ferrari engine is likely to be cheaper, and probably just as good, although aligning yourselves with Ferrari is a risky political move for a small team, so it's a tough choice.

From what I've read Petronas paid around $20-23 million for Ferrari engines. Toyota currently charge around half that.
That said, if Midland can badge the engines as Ferrari they instantly get some prestige attached to the team which is always useful for bagging sponsors. |

Yeah. Lets honour Colin Chapman.
Proton, enter F1 and rekindle our love of Lotus F1. Oh yeah, and get JP to sponsor you again. The 80s will be back. |

The car was a Dallara - the team was Scuderia Italia. Read a brief history of them here:http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/con-scude.html |

Indeed.
The "Lola Ford" car of 1988 was the Larrousse team entry. |
