Full list released by the end of the week....

Great start, I love the AM orientated format too, 50% of the field in Ferraris, but there is still a nice mix of cars elsewhere, Mercedes, Mclaren, Porsche, Nissan, Audi.

Only really lacking a BMW, Lambo, Lexus, etc

The one thing I think is a shame, but probably too hard to manage logistically, is it would have been nice to have nations running with cars/teams from their own nation, if there was a suitable GT3 manufacturer/team available.

UK would have been able to pick from an Aston, Bentley or Mclaren... Germany are running a Ferrari, when they have Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Porsche to chose from.

I get it, logistical nightmare, and not really the point of the competition, but seems odd Team Germany are running a Ferrari, and Team Japan arent running a Honda, Lexus or Nissan....

How about Japan and Germany being represented by Ferrari. From even the greatest of horrors irony is seldom absent.

I don't understand the point of this format. This sort of nations-based format has never worked in motorsports (outside of A1GP, which went quickly bankrupt and Race of Champions, which is more like an exhibition event).

Weird that so many Ferraris when usually Ferraris are absent in many other events.

The nation vs nation concept is good. People like and tend to follow national teams whatever the sport.

Except as referenced above, no one has cared even a little in the past. It's dividing the available cash into another area and we'll end up with the same whining and crying about performance

Or a series anyone might care about instead of a less than pointless one-off weekend where only crying a whining we didn't have the BOP for the weekend will result. If it costs even a single drive in any national series for GT3 is that worth it to brag you won for your team. Sorry but are they driving for anything other than a flag pinned to the car? They aren't using a car built in that country, are all of the teams are based in country they're racing for? If not, what's the point of it being a Nation's cup? Or do people think the Olympics is a money-making exercise? It isn't and costs billions

Does SRO have anything to do with the Macau GT3 Event? This nations cup feels like an attempt to steal some thunder from that.

I like the idea of a giant GT3 event but this isn’t it. Maybe hold it st a better track. Maybe a series of races over Saturday and Sunday? Could you get enough entries for two qualifying races on Saturday, the top half of both goes into a final on Sunday and then there’s a runners up race for the bottom halves? Could you add GT4 To bump up the grid and make it multi class? Eh.

But this concept has never worked in motorsports and makes less sense when when primary performance aspect (car) can't be connected to a nation.

It's anonymous in my opninion. I would have preferred a format with all Pro drivers. To race with a Fisichella instead of Perazzini make the difference for the competition profile

Two qualifying sessions will set the grid for a pair of 60-minute qualifying races – the first on Friday, the second on Saturday – which in turn decide how drivers will line up for a 60-minute main race on Saturday afternoon. When the chequered flag falls, the winning drivers and their country will be crowned as champions.

Support events are GT4 International Cup (similar 3-race format) and Peter Auto's Classics race.

I don't see any mention of streaming.

I’d be surprised not to see a stream for an SRO event

Edit: SRO have just posted a promo video on their YouTube so I’d expect to see streaming there as with all SRO events

While much of the focus will be on contemporary GT equipment, fans will also be given an opportunity to take a step back in time at the Bahrain GT Festival thanks to Patrick Peter’s Classic Endurance Racing Series.

This popular category features packed starting grids and combines iconic machines such as the Ford GT40, Porsche 910, and Ferrari 512. Usually found at Europe’s premier venues, the Classic Endurance Racing Series will make the journey to Bahrain to add a historic flavour to the GT Festival.
